Dmitry Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 They've been releasing cds and lps of the corresponding material since the mid-80s, but I have no idea when they started recording straight to digital. Are their Lps from say, last 20 years, digitally mastered? Has anyone compared the sound reproduction quality of their LPs vs. CDs? Quote
brownie Posted May 6, 2004 Report Posted May 6, 2004 The Black Saint and Soul Note LPs from the 70s and 80s I have give no indication (and do not sound like) they were digitally mastered. The labels used a variety of recording studios in Milan and New York. From sample LPs I have I see dates recorded at Barigozzi Studio, Fontana Studio 7, Ricordi Studios in Milan, Vanguard Studios and Sound Ideas Studios in New York. Mastering seems to have been done in Milan. Quote

Sometimes it's tough to tell, but I think I hear digital in some live recordings at least. I have maybe 100, maybe more of BS/SN, just curious if it makes sense getting lps over cds or vice versa in some cases. Quote
