Brad Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 I sold an item on ebay and the buyer left negative feedback. He claimed I didn't respond to him fast enough (I was on vacation at the time). He left negative feedback within 2 weeks of the sale of the item even though he has it by now. Because this was the only I've ever received, it pissed me off enough so that I started a case with Square Trade but they closed it because the buyer said he was having "technical difficulties" using Square Trade. ST said I could talk to ebay but what I want is the negative feedback retracted. Will ebay do that or should I just forget about it. Any advice is appreciated. Quote
undergroundagent Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Brad — In all honesty, I wouldn't waste your time. It's just a negative feedback. No one really cares, particularly if you have plenty of positives. You can't please everyone, so why try?!?! As I recall someone telling me, you need to get thicker skin when you're dealing with people on line. Move on. There's more important things in this world then getting in a "keying" match with someone you've never even met. Just my opinion. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 (edited) You might contact the buyer and go thru "Mutual Retraction". A new feature that I used recently with a shady buyer who cancelled a PayPal payment after I said the item was sent. Luckily I was wise enough to double check my PayPal prior to actually sending the item. Unfortunately it will only expunge the 'numbers' and not the words left in the feedback remarks area. Better to just write up a response under the feedback left for you. Show some wit and that usually contradicts all remarks. The only thing that really pisses me off in the online world are those buyers who are truly "thankless". B) Edited April 29, 2004 by Man with the Golden Arm Quote
Dan Gould Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 I'd let it go, Brad, but be sure to use the "respond to feedback about me" function to post your account of the events, that the guy over reacted when you had been on vacation and couldn't follow up that quickly. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 29, 2004 Report Posted April 29, 2004 Ebay will not retract it. Just keep in mind that one neg isn't the end of the world. Quote

You definitely need thick skin dealing with Underground... Al is my pal. Just kidding! Hey Brad, What the heck you going on vacation with ebay auctions pending? The buyer may have been a bit quick to post a negative feedback, but as a buyer, I expect the seller to send the item soon after receiving my payment. You have no choice now but to live with the negative feedback. I certainly would be bothered if I got one. Al doesn't mind them; he's got a ton of em. Quote
Brad Posted April 30, 2004 Author Report Posted April 30, 2004 Thank you for the advice and the PM from Moose. Yes, I'll just live with it. Ticks me off though. As far as going on vacation, the auction ended on April 3, I invoiced him on the 4th and hadn't received his check by the 8th when I was off from work. When he asked about it, I told him I was on vacation and would check the box when I returned. That apparently wasn't good enough for the idiot. As a buyer, I've had sellers not send me something for a couple of weeks for one reason or another including job, vacation, etc. That's ok I understand. Maybe I'm too understanding but I wouldn't leave a negative because of that. Well, time to move on. Quote
