ghost of miles Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 I have none of this material and haven't heard any of it either (save for that "Move" track that kicks off the box). Definitely on my October to-get list! Geez, in addition to the Ayler Revenant, the Granz jam sessions, the Miles Seven Steps... ahh, anybody know of an easy bank to knock over? Quote
Brad Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 I'm like David. I have only a couple of his Prestige albums although I may have some of the material with Wardell. So this is a must buy for me. Quote
mikeweil Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 Although it was once released on a Prestige LP, it would appear that the MPS session A DAY IN COPENHAGEN has not been included. Universal now has the rights to this - the Prestige was licensed for a limited time. Better hope for a reissue in the series of MPS reissues by Universal in Germany and Austria - not unlikely, I think. Quote
mikeweil Posted August 14, 2004 Report Posted August 14, 2004 They were on Booker Ervin albums, right? Yeah - they were released on Ervin's Settin' The Pace; recorded in Munich at the same session as The Trance. Quote

Any bank in a town where both Bush and Kerry are campaigning on the same day. Quote

That's a shame because of all the great recordings Dexter made during this period, that one is my favorite. Great charts and terrific playing by all concerned. Quote

I echo what Marty and others have said about this session. It is truly fantastic. I was lucky enough to get a copy off ebay. Quote
