Bluiett played with Sam Rivers, Charles Mingus and many others, as well as founding the BAG (Black Artists Group), before becoming a founding member of the World Saxophone Quartet along with Julius Hemphill, Oliver Lake and David Murray. Down Beat and the New York Times consider the WSQ among the most important acoustic jazz quartets performing today. Tina Marsh and the Creative Opportunity Orchestra Tina Marsh & the Creative Opportunity Orchestra (CO2), Austin’s longstanding jazz composer’s consortium, have consistently created innovative jazz compositions, laced with brilliant improvisations and the unique vocalizations of bandleader Marsh.
