After reading so much about this set, I finally succumbed to mass hysteria and ordered this set.  This, after not buying a Mosaic set in over two years -- thought I was over the Mosaic thing.  Man, this is an expensive board to read.  Just hope I'll like myself in the morning.

Don't feel too darned bad about yourself. I've purchased 4 Mosaic sets in the last couple of months due to this board. Of course, all the sets are so good that I'd have been ticked if I'd missed any of them.

Which four?

Only four sets? :g

The Atlantic NO set is not my cup of tea, but the others are terrific.

Opinions do seem to differ regarding the New Orleans Jazz box. From the posts I've read, people seem to really enjoy or really not enjoy the New Orleans Jazz box. I believe it's an excellent set of music. Yes, even the dreaded funeral music on the first disk. It's a box I'm always glad to know I have when I do an eyeball scan through personal stack of Mosaics.

Of course, only purchase this box if you do like or are interested in New Orleans style jazz. I've learned much from this box.

I'm interested in some NO jazz, or rather the émigré Chicago variant (Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings, Jelly Roll Morton's Red Hot Peppers recordings, King Oliver w/Armstrong), but, like I said, these Atlantic sides are really not my cup of tea...

Don't forget Art Hodes. The Art Hodes Mosaic is one of my favorites.

Today is the end of the month.

Tristano/Konitz/Marsh Mosaic = still 'holding' on the Mosaic site.

The site hasn't been updated for quite a while - the Dave Liebman and Dizzy Reece Selects are still listed under "Upcoming Releases"...

I wonder if the Reece and Liebman Selects, being still shown in the Upcoming Releases section, have anything to do with whether the Last Chance section has been updated or not? I'm not trying to argue the issue, just wondering.

I've seen Mosaic re-add an item to the Last Chance section, that was previously Out Of Print. It was explained to me that Mosaic might do this if an OOP item is returned to Mosaic. My point -- I've seen OOP items re-added to Last Chance without affecting Upcoming Releases.

Scott told me yesterday that they had about 25 of each "last chance" set and that he figured maybe a week more before they're gone. Just remember the last time a set got this close: the Ventura/Philips had some multi-set orders near the very end that wiped them out in minutes. After all, it only takes one person ordering 10 sets on ebay speculation to speed up the clock.

Kevin

i probably can't order until tuesday

ss1

I would think that given your buying history with Mosaic, you should call and explain the monetary situation and ask them to hold you a set until Tuesday. Knowing Mosaic the way I do, I would not be surprised if they did that for repeat customers. It's worth a shot.

Later,

Kevin

17 sets remain.

i guess i had a couple more days

Congrats on getting the set in time, SS1. I haven't even cracked mine open yet, but the anticipation is nice(and I have a gazillion discs to listen to! Can I skip work for about a month, get paid and just listen to tunes? Oh, mortgage, electricity, etc.)
