Although this is most likely not a soda-pop crowd, has anybody tried the new Fanta apple soda? It SMELLS like real apples when you pop the top, and it's got the crisp tartness of whatever those apples are that are supposed to be green when you eat them. It's almost like carbonated cider!

I remember an apple soda from when I was a kid (Apple Beer. or something like that), and Jalisco has long made an apple soda for the Hispanic market (as well as a tamarind one that is damn near addictive), but this is the first "mainstream" attempt at this flavor that I can remember in quite a while. I usually associate Fanta with hack work, but this one's a winner.

My workers drink the shit out of Fanta soda, I'll have to see if I can sneak an apple one out the ice chest.

Love the apple juice that's called 'Sussmost' in Switzerland. Found and drunk in Switzerland only. Good King Ubu probably drinks liters of the stuff. If he does not, he should. Will keep his cheeks rosy :P

isn't this just apple juice with soda?

Schorlemorle as the Germans say (well actually most of them say just Schorle or Apfelschorle, as Schorlemorle really is kind of a silly word)

Don't think soda is added. I would say it's natural fermentation. Just mentioning this sussmost has me longing for a taste!

If I remember well, it originates in some parts of Dwitzerland only. If Ubu could take a break from his beerdrinking, he could shed some light on this important matter.

Schorlemorle as the Germans say

 mhhh, never heard that, sure you understood them correctly :g

@Jim: are you sure there is any natural flavour in it ??? so I guess its just an Illusion. Buy 100% Apply Juice and mix it with sparkling water.. sadly it won't smell as good as the Fanta-what-ever-is-in-it They currently sell some Fanta Blue here... THAT is aweful...

Cheers, Tjobbe

EDIT: that is how it looks like....

Schorlemorle (never heard that before either) comes from the Rhine region and is a mixture of wine and sparkling water. The name is supposed to sound like drunk germans saying "toujours l'amour"

Hey, last night I did not drink any red wine, ahm, beer - no alcoholic beverages at all - by the way, "Süssmost" is just the family version of what in the eastern/north-eastern parts of Switzerland (but who cares, Switzerland is so small) is called "Saft" (short for "Apfelsaft"), and "Saft" is not sweet, but alcoholic, and therefore much better, see?

We (that is, my parents etc) used to have our own apples - hell, how do you say that - worked to "Süssmost". No bubbles, then.

The one with bubbles can be alright, but often is quite unnatural, too, I feel.

Jim, where did you see apple Fanta? My friends and I were addicted to this stuff when I studied in China, but I've never seen it anywhere else. I would love to have it again. :excited:

I'll bet it's not in my area.

However, there's a store-brand soda that I just got into. Up til now I've always loathed store-brand drinks, but I tried this Albertson's Strawberry soda and it's surprisingly good. Kind of like drinking liquid sugar. Nice!

It's all over the place in the DFW area. Maybe not widely available except on a regional basis?
