I'm in the small town of Stanwood, WA, doing some "fill-in" work. There was a Heat Advisory issued yesterday, the temperature? 81. Same for today.

Drove down yesterday from the civilized Paris weather to the brutal heat of the southwestern France Landes area. Thermometer was at 41°C (105°F) when we arrived.

There is a local fiesta in the nearby city today. We'll stay indoor to avoid the heat

There was that boiling hot weekend a couple of weeks ago, plus it was quite nice for most of the Olympics. The days and days of rain at the start of summer were incredible.

I never complain about unpredictable weather, though. It's one of the many things I love about living in England. We could easily get some real summer weather in September.

That's true. I've lived in places that were parched and anything but green. We should give thanks for our weather - it makes the place what it is !
