Good grief - I haven't seen that for the best part of 40 years !

Used to collect the cards from those and walk around with those sweet ciggies in my mouth thinking I was cool. How deluded..

We are having amazingly good weather in SoCal. I'm in my workroom, with all the windows open, and a nice breeze is coming though -- temp 71.

When I was down in SoCal to vist family and friends during New Years, the weather was perfect then, too.

Clean air, 70s....outstanding!

Almost makes me want to move back down there. Then I get on the freeways and it quickly passes. Ugh.

A rarity in Atlanta - nice powdery snow. When we have snow, it's usually with a nasty mix of sleet and freezing rain.

It's halfway through February and the ground is still snow-free! This is very odd (at least judging by the two previous winters I've seen here), but I'm not complaining.

Warmer than we've been used to since December. Signs of things stirring in the garden too!

Spring is definitely here in the UK. -7 two weeks ago, +15 at times last week. Crocuses out, bunnies and pheasants everywhere. I even saw a clump of daffodils on the way home on Friday.

The best thing is despite the great ice massacre that killed off five frogs, it's been all action in the pond this week.

Yesterday it poured with rain after several weeks of dry skies. Here are two frogs taking a rest from their endeavours (unless there are other under the water!!!!!) and enjoying the rain.

The Japanese call this kind of weather ' san kan shi on ' literally three (days) cold four warm. That about sums it up.

A colleague of mine is supposed to be flying out to New York tomorrow - flight's been cancelled due to the ash.

yes, and tonight's tempting gig at the Vortex has been cancelled because Ikue Mori, Jim Black and Briggan Krauss are stuck in Oslo! However presumably Sun Ra's Arkestra will still play across the road at Cafe Oto as the spaceways remain uneffected

Mid 70s in western Michigan today. Temp is supposed to drop 20 degrees tonight and stay in the 50s for a week.

Freezing cold, sleety rain with snow in the night. When I opened the curtains this morning I couldn't believe my eyes- snow covered rooftops !
