kinuta
Still very mild. Mid December and we've barely used any heating. A light jacket is enough outside.
A Lark Ascending
Don't know if this was just standard newspaper Chicken Licken syndrome but they were saying that the winter solstice temperature today is higher than the summer solstice in June! Scott Dolan
I don't doubt it. Gonna be 60 and sunny here for Christmas. It'll almost be like I'm back in Florida again.

A Lark Ascending
Coming down in torrents. They must be despairing in Cumbria. The TV pictures were terrible - third inundation in Appleby, a place I remember from several very happy summers down by the river.
sidewinder
Pretty rough down here this morning as well but they seem to have turned the taps off for the afternoon..
paul secor
Rain seems to be clearing and it's supposed to be near 70 today. Crazy, but after the last two bitterly cold winters I'll take it as long as it lasts - probably not for long.
Tim McG
Cold with rain in the Valley and snow in the mountains this afternoon. Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, CA. Edited December 24, 2015 by Tim McG
fasstrack
Warm and rainy in NYC. We had two cold days last week, but it's been downright balmy most of the time.

A Lark Ascending
Terrible scenes in the north of England today: Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire I'm just a couple of miles from the South Yorkshire border but we've had virtually no rain today. Apparently Manchester and Leeds are under threat. I know we've a few posters here living in these regions. Hope you're not caught up in it. Yes, flooding in northern parts of Greater Manchester, about 15 miles from where I live in south Manchester. The Metrolink tram from the bottom of my road is having to terminate prematurely before it reaches the waters. As I think I wrote in this thread, here we're earmarked for a once-in-a-hundred-years flooding by the Mersey, tho' 100 now probably equals

JSngry
We were at 81 and muggy yesterday, then the sun went down, the cold front moved through and we had a little mini-tornado fest (none in Plano, thankfully), then today it cooled off and started raining like hell, but only in fits and starts, but all day and expected overnight. Right now it's 41, and out to the west and up in the panhandle, they're expecting snow. Not expecting it here, but we will drop below freezing a few nights this week, and truthfully, I'd not be surprised if a few flurries made their way in. Scott Dolan
We actually hit 70 last week, but it has finally started to cool back down. Tons of rain, though. I-70 in St. Charles (10-15 minutes east of St. Louis) is closed due to flooding. That's a MAJOR artery severed during one of the most traveled weekend of the year... Shawn
It has actually felt like December this December in California. I've worn my coat more this month than I did in the past 3 winters combined.

JSngry
My son goes to work earlier than I do, and he said it was snow-flurrying at 6:30 this AM. It wasn't quite cold enough to stick or accumulate, but sill...81 on Saturday, snow on Monday.
A Lark Ascending
Floodwater surrounds houses in Cawood, North Yorkshire Flood waters reach the foot of Clifford’s Tower in York A view of Huntingdon Road and Yearsley Crescent covered by floodwater after the River Ouse and River Foss bursts their banks in York city centre I know that what the north of England is experiencing is as nothing compared with the flooding (and other natural disasters) that happens elsewhere in the world; but when it's places you are familiar with and not that far away it really hits home. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/gallery/2015/dec/27/flooding-northern-england-pictures
