chris olivarez Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Is three out of four acceptable? Damn! Either Joe's fatter than his picture on the CD cover indicates, or he's pretty fast on the draw at those porn sites.... Jazzmoose,Jazzmoose. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted April 16, 2004 Report Posted April 16, 2004 Thanks for the links, bro! Not a problem; just remember that the "Woolen Fantasy" site runs out of bandwidth pretty easily, so don't be too baa-a-a-ad... Quote
JSngry Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 You'll look better in a sweater washed in Woolite. Wooloite washing makes a sweater look alive! Quote
ghost of miles Posted April 17, 2004 Report Posted April 17, 2004 I was telling my wife at breakfast today about this thread and she said, "From what you've told me, the average Organissimo poster sounds intelligent, neurotic, and somewhat aggressive... kind of like certain types of jazz." I love being married to this woman! Quote
chris olivarez Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Sounds like you've got a pretty cool wife Ghost. Quote
randissimo Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Joe, you are hereby banished from the Organissimo Forum until you fulfill the obligations thereof: Namely, becoming chronically overweight, grossly opionated, completely reliant on beer and Cheetos for sustenance, and with an unhealthy penchant for extreme pornography. The quicker you meet these goals, the faster you'll be re-instated. Grossly opionated ?? Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 I think it's a fancy word for eating too many pies; it helps with the overweight part... Quote

BERIGAN Posted April 21, 2004 Report Posted April 21, 2004 Don't ya'll think that outside of the political forums, this is a pretty calm board? Not to badmouth AAJ(honest) but it got old seeing folks arguing about jazz, it wasn't in a constructive way at all, just pissing on others opinions just cuz...I like that I rarely see anything like that here.... Now to check out AAJ, since I haven't in a month or so.... Quote
pepe Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 AAJ attracts a number of young people discovering jazz, getting valuable information from the board's more established fans. I think that's a good thing and that alone is enough to see AAJ has a mission. In addition the board has quite a few valuable nonUS members giving a different perspective It also has a number of posts it's possible to digest even if you have work to do and a family to look after Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 One thing's for sure. This is the jazz board where you'd be most likely to find eight pages of ruminating on "How other people see us..., No, not the USA... THIS BOARD!" One of those smiley faces denoting a gentle ribbing. Quote
patricia Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 I've posted on other boards and I do find that Organissimo is very diversified and, for the most part, forgiving. As those who know me know, I have gotten myself involved in discussions in which I ended up painting myself into a corner, mostly due to my stubbornness about being the one to cry "uncle". It's not about having to have the last word, but rather showing any sign of retreat. Being raised with three brothers who hated me and no sisters, I'm a belligerant cuss. I've enjoyed my time here and intend to stay as long as the rest of you will have me. Quote
JSngry Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 (edited) SORRY!!!! or , whichever one works for you. Edited April 22, 2004 by JSngry Quote
RainyDay Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 First time I've been back since the thread took a left turn. But the reason I like it here is that people are generally more civil than what I've found at other places. If someone asks a question, they don't get pounced on. And there aren't a lot of screaming matches about what people like or not. I haven't visited the smooth thread, however, so that would be a good litmus test. B) I like some smooth and I get sick of how all of it gets thrown out with the bath water so I avoid those kinds of threads now. That's the thing, you don't have to go to a thread if someone who annoys you started it, or if the topic annoys you. You don't have to go there. Demanding the end of politics on the board because other points of view make you crazy is like demanding Howard Stern be removed from the airways because he offends you. You don't have to go there. There was a discussion on another board that was not very productive (I'm being kind) and I made a couple of posts and left it alone. I'm not going to change anyone's mind or their value system and I don't really have the time to try. Lately, I've used the political threads to do mostly venting about things I am very distressed about and feeling powerless to influence. Quote
RainyDay Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 By the way, Bev's dig made me chuckle. You KNOW how we are over here! The Divas of the West. Quote
brownie Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 This place has been more civilised now that the more obnoxious ones have gone their way! And they're not being missed... Quote

In the end it doesn't matter too much how anyone sees this site. It strikes me as pretty self-sustaining. And welcoming to those who stumble in here! Quote

Geoff Posted April 22, 2004 Report Posted April 22, 2004 Ok, it was Geoff who was "ashamed". I think he means that he's a bit "ashamed" to post here because he came on too strong with his "expertise", and got called on it (but usually in a friendly-if-tough way, as I remember) more than once. Geoff, I said it then, and I'll say it again - you're on the right track. WAY so. Making your "mistakes" now is how you learn. The only thing to truly be "ashamed" of is NOT learning from them. If, on the other hand, you mean that you're ashamed to post here because of the collective ignorance in the face of your brilliance (and I don't think you do, but I gotta cover all the bases here), well, that's ANOTHER mistake you're making. As for the "lurker", who knows, and who cares? yes, the first quote was from me. I guess I kind of got over ambitious, which made me seem like I was a 'know it all' kind of person. Which I am not. So like, I hope you guys can forgive me, for my early posts. I do wish to contribute. Quote
