I'm not sure how much I PAID, between $5,000 and $10,000. I'm getting a $500 REFUND. Which means that the government had $500 too much of my money for several months. And paid me no interest to boot.

I'm paying way less than I should be. Acc. to TurboTax, my effective tax rate was 1.6%. I don't know how they run a country on that, much less two.

You think that's bad? We're getting over $10,000 back - which sounds great, but really means that we *way* overpaid.

Yeah. People often interpret a tax refund as a benefit. To me it's not. It lets me know that I could have purchased some more Mosaics had I had MY money that the government was keeping from me. Whether the refund be for $50, $5,000, or $10,000.

We usually pay a little each year but we adopted our little girl in 2003 so we get a nice size refund this year- and 2004 as well.

Man, I don't know. The interest rates have been so strange lately. However, my bank still pays me interest at a rate greater than zero percent. The government offers me zero percent for holding my money.

I don't really know the amount, but it's too much in my opinion.

I pay someone to do my taxes and only pay attention to what I get back. I've since buried my returns in my documents box. Too lazy to dig it out right now. I'm bushed from work...

When I pay bills and taxes I feel a sense of "completion". I may be a sucker, but I usually feel good about my situation. I'm alive, I pay my bills on time, I pay my taxes and my wife and children are alive. That is as much as I can expect.

BUT it ain't nobody's business.

I made a big ERROR and blamed the wrong person.

Blame it on the drugs my doctor gave me after surgery today.
