Chuck Nessa Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Doesn't the Mingus Mosaic set use mono tapes, whereas the Candid CD reissues are stereo? The stereo masters for Mingus Presents Mingus are missing, so Mosaic used the mono originals. The stereo cds are from 3rd, 4th, 5th (who knows) generation dubs. I have not heard the most recent cd mastering, but the previous versions were horrible. Quote
jazzbo Posted April 15, 2004 Report Posted April 15, 2004 Thanks Chuck; I thought I had remembered only that session was mono in the Mosaic. Quote
ralphie_boy Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Can anyone tell me exactly which Candid sessions I would need to purchase individually in order to get all of the music in the Mosaic? All I have is The World of... Thanks. Quote
brownie Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 Beside 'The World of Cecil Taylor', the Mosaic box had tracks from the following albums: - Jumpin' Punkins' by Cecil Talor, - 'New York R&B' by Buell Neidlinger and Cecil Taylor, also reissued as 'Air' - 'Cell Walk For Celeste' by Cecil Taylor Quote
king ubu Posted June 15, 2004 Report Posted June 15, 2004 ... - 'New York R&B' by Buell Neidlinger and Cecil Taylor, also reissued as 'Air' ... That's two different CDs! ubu Quote
reg Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 i saw two CD's "Jumpin' Punkins" and "The World of Cecil Taylor" in my local shop yesterday. both had 1989 on them. have any of the candid CD's been remastered more recently and if not is the sound OK on these 1989 ones? thanks Quote
JohnS Posted November 16, 2004 Report Posted November 16, 2004 I don't believe there's been a remaster. I'd pick these up if you don't have them. Great music. Quote
Tony Pusey Posted November 17, 2004 Report Posted November 17, 2004 World of,Jumpin Punkins and New York RnB all available in 24 bit remastering from Candid in Japan. I bought mine from Hiroshi about 18 months ago. Quote

Ed S Posted September 7, 2005 Report Posted September 7, 2005 One just went a couple of days ago for $233. Quote
wolff Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 I think around the $200 mark but maybe Wolff has some past-sale stats on this.. ← Recent Ebay LP set winning bids: $163 $192 $97 Quote
sidewinder Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Amazing, Wolff - I never see these $90 - $100 sets ! They must be filtered out by ebay for non-US viewers Quote
ASNL77 Posted September 8, 2005 Report Posted September 8, 2005 Thanks for your help. I am really looking forward to listening to that one! Quote
