an obese American white male, who puts in a straight six hours a day on the board, shovelling junk food and beer in one end while expelling Bronx cheers out the other, occasionally breaking to surf some porn and maybe jerk off, who thinks Kerry is some sort of radical, and all the while imagines, Walter Mitty-like, that he's an influential and respected arbiter of taste at the centre of the jazz world.

Zounds, he's on to me!!! :o

In the meantime, comrades, I must alert you to this very interesting sale:

Moscow

They're selling off my stash, those heartless capitalist pirates!!!

Does anyone else wonder how the typical Organissimo board member would be defined? By gender, income, age, etc etc.

Based on observation of the board rather than strictly quantifiable research data, the picture of a typical member that I get is of:

Does this ring any bells?

Let's see, I'm female, middle aged, middle class, black...oh, well.

I might add however, the recent appearance of bumping grinding, big chested, and now naked women makes me realize how this site isn't exactly a place that welcomes female participation.

And no one answered the question posed on another thread, but why WOULD a man want to be indentified with an avatar of a female posing in a provocative way? I could understand if it was a photo of a female jazz musician on stage or a record cover, since this is a jazz site. In my experience, men who engage in posting risque photos of women, among other similar classy behavior, are announcing that they have manhood and maturity issues. If you are fifteen, you wouldn't understand that. If you are over 30, you should consider therapy.

The board absolutely welcomes female participation. Just some folks seem to prefer it in the form of bumping, grinding, and showing off hooties and extraordinarily limited wardrobes.

I can only speak for myself, of course, (as a 30-something, workin-class-rooted, urban, overeducated, underpaid, mongrel American usually identified as white (though I'm Native American enough for some scholarships, I hear) and self-identified as essentially Irish-American, though I don't look it) anyhow, speaking from that very complicated position, I really do lament the cavemanesque unsubtlety of some of the sexual stuff here.

But I don't think it should be interpreted as hostility to women so much as lack of taste and discernment, and, let me assure you, it's not just women who cringe sometimes.

We have some tasteless guys here, but if you overlook them, most of the guys here are pretty decent fellows. I welcome female participation here- the more points of view, the better.

Here's to cringing, then. I'm glad I have some company.

Rainy Day,

If I read a Berigan post at work, I have to quickly scroll past his 'bouncing' avatar, and Evan's nude woman with the moving legs is another one like that. I do cringe at times, but please don't take it all that seriously- I'm sure they don't, nor do they mean any harm.

I know you're not talking about me. :g

RD, females are welcome here, in fact I wish we would here from more.

Tell your friends! B)

Nothing like proving that you're a twit. Thanks for the clarification, buddy.
