Rooster_Ties
and shop on 4/15 & add the code :"TAXDAY15" you might get another 15% off the bottom line as well? Seriously, do people here think there's a chance of both discounts being applied?? Both the "Blue Note" sale price, plus an additional 15% off?? That'd be one sweet deal. EDIT: I just looked at the e-mail I got about this more carefully, and perhaps YES -- the 15% would be applied on top of the Blue Note sale price (meaning we could maybe combine both offers). Here's part of the .gif I got in the e-mail today, as an attachment to this post... Edited April 13, 2004 by Rooster_Ties

Rooster_Ties
If the Blue Note sale can really be combined with the 15% off on April 15th sale, then domestic RVG's will be like $8.30 each (if you buy enough to get the free shipping). Now that's quite a deal. Otherwise, without the 15% off too -- they're about $9.75 each -- which is a good price, to be sure -- but not really a 'great' price. Jazzmoose
If you don't get both discounts, I can hold back. As I should. Here's hoping it doesn't work. Sort of...
LAL
You could also get discounts on several Mosaic box sets namely the Gene Krupa/Harry James and Four Freshmen sets (about $97 and $127 respectively). There's also the Stan Kenton Capitol Studio Mosaic LP set on sale here. I'm not sure though if these are part of the numbered limited editions, will find out shortly. Nice way to get some Mosaics at a discount.
Jazzmoose
Anyone try yet to see if the "double discount" works?
Son-of-a-Weizen
Yes, it works!
undergroundagent
I was looking over the list the other day and noticed a nice OOP Les McCann disc on Pacific Jazz with Stanley Turrentine and Blue Mitchell called "LTD in New York." This one smokes and I'd recommend it to anyone with even a remote interest in McCann.
Rooster_Ties
Just spotted a "Babe's Blues - The Three Sounds" Conn, supposedly still in stock. $10.83 -- after the double discount. Not my cup of tea, but surely somebody here's lookin' for some Three Sounds. EDIT: added bold to the word "supposedly". Could just as easily be an inventory error. Rooster_Ties
Word to the wise... When brousing Tower's "Blue Note" titles, don't limit yourself only to "In Stock" items (using the choices on the far left). If you only look at "In Stock" items, then "Low Stock" items aren't shown. FYI...
Rooster_Ties
Only $17.85 with the double discount (today, and today only) -- and disc #1 is definitely worth that much, all by itself. Get on it!!
undergroundagent
"Introducing the Three Sounds" TOCJ for $21.62. That's pretty sweet!!! This album is OOP.
Aggie87
Anybody know if this was this ever issued domestically? I'm guessing not... Herbie Hancock - Riot TOCJ 66021, 1999 Tracks: 1. Riot (First Alt Take) / Herbie Hancock 2. Riot (Second Alt Take) / Herbie Hancock 3. Blind Man, Blind Man (Alt / Herbie Hancock 4. Mimosa (Alt Take) / Herbie Hancock 5. Goodbye To Childhood (Alt / Herbie Hancock 6. Prisoner (Alt Take) / Herbie Hancock 7. Firewater (Alt Take) / Herbie Hancock I'd provide the cover art, but Tower's website uses dynamic pages in the tags, whatever that means. edit - Also, what is this?? Jason Moran - "Jason Moran" TOCJ-66068 One of his domestic albums released with a different title? Edited April 15, 2004 by Aggie87
PHILLYQ
Keep in mind that the TAXDAY15 code can only be used once.I tried to go back for seconds and was denied.
Patrick
Thanks for the outstanding tax day tip. $9.74 is a resistable price for a new RVG, $8.28 considerably less so. So after patiently waiting for some lower prices on these, I made the following order of RVGs new to me (Conquistador, SHB, FF, RN, RFF), RVG upgrades (AA, BT, SFTNL), something that maybe should be an RVG (BW), my first Tristano (Intuition), Konitz/Mehldau/Haden (based in part on raves in the modern BN classics thread), and a pair of used items (Parker (only $70.54), and Pharoah): Blues Walk, Lou Donaldson Blue Train [Remaster], John Coltrane Search For The New Land, Lee Morgan Adam's Apple [Remaster], Wayne Shorter Sweet Honey Bee [Remaster], Duke Pearson Ready For Freddie [Remaster], Freddie Hubbard Conquistador [Remaster], Cecil Taylor Free Form [Remaster], Donald Byrd Right Now [Remaster], Jackie McLean Intuition, Lennie Tristano/Warne Marsh Alone Together, Lee Konitz/Mehldau/Haden The Complete Savoy & Dial Studio Recordings, Charlie Parker Jewels Of Thought, Pharoah Sanders All for less (okay, not much less) than $170 delivered. Now the waiting game for when it all finally arrives!
Rooster_Ties
Went back, and forth, and back again... I shouldn't be buying much (pinching pennies, ya know), but I couldn't help but pick at least a couple new things. So, I finally settled on these three (with the double-discounted prices below)... Blakey: Drums Around The Corner [Limited] --- $10.83 McLean: Jackie's Bag [Remaster] --- $8.28 Hans Werner Henze: Composers Of Our Time [DVD] --- $18.69 I don't even own a DVD player yet, but me and the Mrs. (excuse me, Ms.!!), are planning to get one any day now. Now I'll have a good excuse to get one!! -- Rooster
Aggie87
Keep in mind that the TAXDAY15 code can only be used once.I tried to go back for seconds and was denied. Why do they do this? I placed an order for some discs (primarily some of the newer RVGs) that were listed as "in stock". I didn't realize it was only good once, and had planned to go back later in the day and make another order, for some additional discs that were on back order (available in 1-2 weeks or something like that). But I'm not doing this without the extra 15% off. Seems like they could have simply made the code good for a set period of time, instead of one-use only. Aggie87
Also, what is this?? Jason Moran - "Jason Moran" TOCJ-66068 One of his domestic albums released with a different title? Up - I'm still curious about this Moran disc. If it's music that's not available elsewhere, it's definitely got my attention. Thanks, Erik
ralphie_boy
I picked up CONQUISTADOR and PASSING SHIPS. $20.38 w/ shipping. Not bad!
PHILLYQ
I got 'A Fickle Sonance'(Jackie McLean) 'Roots of Afro-Cuban Jazz' 'The Complete Atomic Basie' 'Back at the Chicken Shack'(Jimmy Smith) Total of $33.12, $8.28 per disc
DrJ
Picked up CONQUISTADOR and CAPE VERDEAN BLUES, both upgrades from late 80's remasterings. Cannot wait to hear them. Also the SACD of BLUE TRAIN - and now I'll be able to find out which side of the heated debate about the SACD layer I fall in with! And with the 15% off/free shipping "taxday" coupon, threw in Jimmy Giuffre 3's 1961, which I've long been waiting for because I refused to pay the exhorbitant full list price on this ECM title. Still WAY over priced, but at least some off. About this one - I have and enjoy FREE FALL, how much similarity is there?
