king ubu Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Hey, Garth, maybe you could send me some of these old sets I never had a chance to buy (I was born to years before Monk Blue Note Mosaic...) - I would not be mad at you then, anymore, of course! ubu Quote
Eric Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 First I carefully place the receipt in an acid-free zip lock baggie. Next I remove and discard all extraneous matter from the box, such as the actual CDs and booklet. Finally, I lovingly place the zip-locked receipt in the now-cavernous box. Call me anal, but I think it's the safest way to go. Quote
wesbed Posted April 23, 2004 Author Report Posted April 23, 2004 Finally, I lovingly place the zip-locked receipt in the now-cavernous box. Call me anal, but I think it's the safest way to go. Hmmm... well, you will keep the Mosaic receipt safe. In this way, when the box does finally wear out... the receipt will still maintain the safety of the acid-free baggie. Quote
mikeweil Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 To prevent the box with the receipt inside from aging I recommend shrinkwrapping in black plastic. I tested one of these in the deep freeze and then in the pond, and it stood the test. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted April 23, 2004 Report Posted April 23, 2004 Amateurs... All of this is pointless if you don't first take the precaution of carefully bathing the receipt in a high alkaline solution of four parts distilled water to one part baking soda in order to neutralize the acidity of the receipt paper. Then, of course, you carefully air dry the receipt in a dark, cool place, carefully pressed between two sheets of mylar and two one inch thick metal plates held together at precisely four foot/pound torque. I mean, if you're going to do it right... Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted April 24, 2004 Report Posted April 24, 2004 Because of this thread, when I placed my order for the New Orleans & TKM boxes last week I asked Scott if he could send me boxes with removable lids. Sure enough, both came in with removable lids. I'm happy. My receipts self destruct in about a year. The ink fades away. Maybe I should look into this "acid-free baggie" set-up... Later, Kevin Quote
Guest ariceffron Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 GET 2 NAILS A SMIDGEN UNER 12' APART AND YOU CAN HANG THE BOX LIKE A NICE FRAMED PHOTO IT LOOKS NEAT. Quote
neveronfriday Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 I remember Stephen King once talking about collectors who were afraid of leaving eyeball tracks on the paper of their limited editions. I guess he knew nothing about Mosaic and its customers. Cheers! Quote
Parkertown Posted April 25, 2004 Report Posted April 25, 2004 ROTFLMAO!!! I knew there was a reason I hang out around this place... Quote
