Ken Dryden Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago (edited) I have been experiencing sudden power loss from my Denon receiver, the model number on the remote is AVR-S760H. Any ideas as to what might cause it? Research on line hasn't provided any help. It is well ventilated in a cool room and vacuumed for dust. All the plugs have been checked. Kevin Bresnahan Posted 20 hours ago Report Posted 20 hours ago A few questions for clarity... What do you mean by "sudden power loss"? Do you mean the volume is being reduced or that it is shutting off? What is the model of the receiver? The remote model will not help as that remote was probably used for all of their receivers that model year. Quote

The unit is in use, not at a particularly high volume, then it suddenly cuts off. I was trying to see if it was in sleep mode, but not sure if it was or not. I did turn off the ECO mode. Quote
mjzee Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago I had a similar problem on my Emotiva preamp. I thought it might be a fuse issue, but it wasn't something I could fix myself. I had to send it back to Emotiva, who replaced a board inside. If I had to guess what caused the problem, it might have been one too many power surges caused by neighborhood power issues. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted 12 hours ago Author Report Posted 12 hours ago This receiver has always been plugged into a surge protector and we haven't had any major surges according to our Ting monitor, which runs 24/7. Quote

But I have had a similar type of issue that I've never been able to solve. I stream music from Tidal through it and something always shuts the App down after about 20 minutes. Like you, I've turned off the sleep modes on that AND my TV, but it still keeps happening. Does NOT happen with any other streaming Apps, though. Very weird. Edited 7 hours ago by BFrank Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted 15 minutes ago Report Posted 15 minutes ago Several of the one & two star reviews at Denon's AVR-S760H product page mention that their unit suddenly started going into "Protect mode" and shutting off. It sounds like you may be having that problem here. About the only thing I would try before sending it out for repair is to disconnect everything from it and see if it still happens. Sometimes, something you have connected to the main unit starts failing and causes a weird impedance on one of the inputs or outputs (speakers). If you disconnect everything and it still shuts down, it's probably a bad board. Quote
