Hardbopjazz Posted Tuesday at 04:52 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:52 PM (edited) will anyone here buy this when Blue Note starts selling it on March 28th? Whiskey stones are the perfect accessory for a drink that needs Just Coolin’ without getting watered down. Sold as a set of six stones laser etched alternately with the classic Blue Note Logo and “Finest in Jazz” tagline with a velvet bag for storage. Edited Tuesday at 04:52 PM by Hardbopjazz Quote

T.D. Posted Tuesday at 06:25 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 06:25 PM (edited) Stopped drinking alcohol many years ago, so couldn't care less. Apparently the stones are substitutes for ice cubes. Keep them in the freezer, then when added to drinks they won't dilute the booze (like melting ice cubes) as they warm. Edited Tuesday at 06:26 PM by T.D. Quote
mikeweil Posted Tuesday at 06:56 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 06:56 PM Complete survival kit for Blue-note-aholics. Who buys these things? Quote

JSngry Posted Tuesday at 07:35 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 07:35 PM When I drank, I preferred shots. Double. Ice is for mixed drinks, which to me is for social drinking. I never drank to be social. What's the point in that? I drank to get a good enough buzz to stand being around social. These days, make mine sober. Regardless of the pain and suffering! Do these cold rocks work for ice tea and soda pop? Quote

Do these cold rocks work for ice tea and soda pop? They've gotta work just as well for non-alcoholic drinks. Personally, I don't drink soda and don't care if iced tea or lemonade gets diluted. Back to the original topic, I always got the impression that big-time whisky (single malt variety) snobs frowned on using ice cubes. Maybe that's a promising application for these stones. Quote
GA Russell Posted Tuesday at 08:20 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 08:20 PM My first thought is that the stones would be unhygenic. Maybe they soak them in alcohol first to disinfect them. Maybe the liquor would kill the germs too. I get the idea, but I'm not aware of any trend to use pebbles instead of ice. Why not? Quote

felser Posted Wednesday at 12:41 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 12:41 AM I still remember saving up my Conn proofs of purchase so that I could get the piece of junk BN watch, which has sat in a drawer somewhere for 25-30 years now. And 99% of my liquid consumption is black coffee or water. Quote

I'm also on my second replacement watchband. I don't drink whiskey. Can't stand the smell of the stuff. But from what I understand, whiskey stones are a much better way to chill your whiskey. Quote
Pim Posted Wednesday at 03:42 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 03:42 PM (edited) Well everybody should know for themselves what to spend their hard earned money on of course but this is among the most silly things I have ever seen. I haven’t been interested in any music merchandise anyway thought in my teenage metal years I used to own a few band shirts of course. I like Scotch and for me ice is like blasphemy but that’s my personal opinion. Edited Wednesday at 03:43 PM by Pim Quote
