Apparently the pop ups can be defeated as I had none.  And I don't even no my settings in Chrome.

Thanks, enjoyed that. I use AdBlock and saw nary a popup.

Brief but very interesting, thanks Allen ...
I marked and copied the entire text (plus the Randall's Island photo of Clyde Hart) into a Word file for permanent future reference.
No popups there, but of course I'll have to pull the sound samples one by one from my collection.

pop up blockers are easy. I use Adblock Plus

An extra cost I can do without.

I use the free Adblock and (as mentioned above) saw zero popups.

Yeah. I misposted earlier. I have the free Adblock Plus. Periodically, including every time the software updates, I get messages touting the upgrade to paid.

All Free features, plus:

• Block floating videos, site notifications, and more
• Block cookie consent pop-ups
• Keep your ad blocker on

If I click on the ABP symbol in the upper right hand corner of the browser, a mini-screen appears, including a button to upgrade.

I've been using it silently in the background for around 15 years and have never noticed a "paid" version. It's been an invisible helper for a long time!
