Dan Gould Posted Saturday at 10:11 AM Report Posted Saturday at 10:11 AM This came over the NYT email alert literally moments ago ... https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/21/sports/george-foreman-dead.html?unlocked_article_code=1.504.fXhv.kaOuJNG5QWza&smid=url-share When I was a kid, I loved boxing and loved George Foreman the most, and was so disappointed when he lost to that loud-mouthed braggart Ali. It took a little while for my appreciation for Ali to catch up to the reality of his skills and character, but my admiration for George only increased in the ensuing years. RIP. Quote

Dan Gould Posted Saturday at 11:47 AM Author Report Posted Saturday at 11:47 AM Since the Times alert email came in the minutes between logging onto my email account and "what is this new email?" I assumed it was really breaking news but I guess the Times timed it to the publishing of the obit. Quote

GA Russell Posted Saturday at 10:49 PM Report Posted Saturday at 10:49 PM RIP George Foreman! I remember January 22, 1973, very well. Three things happened that day. 1) The US Supreme Court handed down its Roe v. Wade decision. 2) LBJ died. 3) Foreman beat Frazier. Quote

rostasi Posted yesterday at 05:00 AM Report Posted yesterday at 05:00 AM Quote My yoga teacher had some sad news for us. “George Forman died.” There were more than a few blank faces, so she added, “the boxer and the grill guy.” There were still some blank faces so she said, “Now, I know who was paying attention in the seventies and who wasn’t.” I thought the George Forman thing was brain fart, but then she said, “You know what the cool thing was about George Forman? He was an asshole, like a major asshole. I’m serious. Big asshole. For like half his life. But then one day, he chose not to be an asshole. How cool is that? And how hard is that? Really hard, right? Changing your whole perspective on life, how you move through the world. That’s what yoga is, people, making choices about how we move through world.” Quote
