JAZZ ON BBC

I'm getting a Grundig shortwave radio(Yachtboy 400 PE) soon-primarily to pick up Jazz on BBC.

Does anyone know the frequency for BBC and what times/days (on the West Coast) I can pick up BBC jazz shows-i.e.Humphrey Lyttleton, etc.

Any other shortwave suggestions for Jazz from other countries??

I imagine I would not be able to pick up much during daylight hours, right?

I can only help with British times but

Monday nights on Radio 2 is the Humph & bg band shows.

Friday afternoon on Radio 3 is Jazz legends - a weekly look at a different artist for an hour.

Friday night on Radio 3 (11.30 GMT) is the magnificent Jazz on 3 , a contemporary jazz programme.

Saturday afternoon from 4.00 (GMT) are thee jazz programmes Jazz Line Up , Jazz record requests & Jazz file.

If you've got a high speed connection you'd be better listening on-line. All these programmes are archived for a week so you can replay them at leisure.

Can I recommend one on BBC Radio Scotland called 'Bebop to Hiphop' - very catholic, lots of Blue Note as well as more contemporary releases:

The program "Jazz Record Requests", referred to above, will not be broadcast again until May 1. Wagner's Ring (from the Met this time) makes one of its regular interventions. Doubt Richard would have been a jazzer.
