BFrank Posted Monday at 01:36 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:36 AM Very cool. I didn't know about this! Quote
jazzbo Posted Monday at 01:43 AM Report Posted Monday at 01:43 AM (edited) Yes. Michael revealed to me some info that was previously unknown, and Peter Cook quoted a few of these bits in his book on Blue Note and actually credited my interview (in the footnotes). I had found just the right questions to ask to get him really flowing with info. He was a pleasure to talk to. When I typed up the interview from the recording for his review, at his request, he replied "That is EXACTLY what we said. Proceed." I did this for a little e-magazine called "Doobop." I saved a copy but somehow after that disappeared a few years later AAJ gobbled it up. Not sure how that was accomplished . . . they sure didn't consult me. It was quite an interesting interview, and I only wish that I could have chronicled the the forty minutes or so we conversed after the interview closed. Edited Monday at 01:44 AM by jazzbo Quote
Holy Ghost Posted 4 hours ago Report Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Nod to Slugs by said author. Side note. If you look in the upper right-hand corner, Noam Chomsky is included in this issue too, one of the most fascinating and bazaar guest lecturers' I ever heard at my college in my undergrad years. Yes, AAJ does take stuff from elsewhere online and republish it without consulting the authors. Nor do they pay people despite their ad revenue. But my kvetching is probably better served in another thread Quote
jazzbo Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Yes, I'd kvetch too if it made some sort of difference. I had a little hurdle with them years ago and haven't gone back to the site except once a year or so. Quote
