Just seen the news on the Beefheart Appreciation site that Elliot has passed - Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band guitarist extraordinaire 

Big fan of The Don & Magic Band since the 70s - actually saw them  (sans Don of course) at the Byron Bay Blues & Roots Festival a few years back

In the mid-80's we had a jazz club here run by musician Tom Weaver (Geronimo Black) and his wife. Once when talking to him about bands he knew he said that Elliot was babysitting their kids and watching the Wizard of Oz that evening.

Tho he wasn't a member, I played some Mallard on the show last night.
Wish they had put out more than a couple of albums.
