Although certainly for completists only, it appears this box set of 19 CDs covers her entire career, and includes many live sets.

I have always been a big fan of hers, and it would be great to have her entire output in one box, but at the current price (well over $200), it would be a tough purchase.

But, maybe down the road at a more reasonable used price, it would be very tempting.

I have only her early material, and would appreciate comments on her releases past the mid-70s...

I have never been a fan. . .  but that does not at all seem an "unreasonable" price for a 19 cd set (220-230 that I have seen).

That's probably true, however I wonder how many of the 19 CDs are worthwhile, and probably each of her hits are reprised at least 10 times over the 19 CDs?

I can't imagine any of our board members would have this box set?

I don't and won't, though I own the majority of what's on it.  As far as I know, I own all of her "regular" issue (studio and live) CD's, so I can't justify the money for the delta.  But count me as a lifelong big fan.

almost double that price in australian$ (405 via Amazon) - our $ is currently tanking. Looks tempting as I only have her early output  (first 5 or 6 LPs) on vinyl picked up many years ago. Hugely influential musician IMHO - one of my fav vocalists

Double that price is a lot! She's never done anything for me, but I know she's important. I wish they could price these things so that those who really really want them didn't have to hesitate or get a loan or hold up a shop to have one.

You know what she did for me? She fixed me up a great big mess of collard greens.

At least that's who she said she was. I should have asked for ID, but DAMN then greens smelled good.

John,

I don't have any of her live material. Can you comment on the live sessions from Fillmore East, as well as the Bottom Line, if you have those sessions??

Thanks

Both are well worth having.  The Fillmore East is essential, as she is solo on piano in 1971, and her voice is at its peak.  The Bottom Line is a group effort from 1988, smaller scale than Seasons of Light, and functions well as a career retrospective.  She remains in good voice.
