Just wanted to take a moment and crow about this box set arriving in the mail yesterday. Special thanks to member jazzkrow who gave me a heads up on this set seeing it was available on eBay for less than $60 minus shipping. Yep, you read that right. With the exception of the label peeling off the side of the box, the set is in pretty decent shape. How are you ever going to get a set this cheap?  I'm really looking forward to hearing this collection after reading the commentary about how great this set is. Very excited!

Makes me feel as if I overpaid.  Just recently bought Classic Capitol Jazz Sessions box for about $100.  I think I got a deal but I like your deal better.  Also just bought the Kenton 1943-1947 box for about $70.  Count Basie Live Recordings is very good but to me, the Studio Sessions box is just super wonderful.  If you can find that for $60, don't hesitate -- buy it!

Generally, yes, though you have to be patient sometimes. I find this applies pretty much only to the 80s-2000s sets. The more recent ones, from the last 15 years or so, still go for list price and higher. The Braxton and Threadgill sets are still very high in demand. The classic jazz sets they did in the 2010s (Hawk, Pres/Basie, Hines, Webb/Fitzgerald, Armstrong, Condon/Freeman etc) are still very expensive. None of these seemed to last very long, and I think they pressed far, far fewer than they did of the older ones from the heyday of the CD era.

A few years back I found someone here on the forum had posted about a Chicago store that was selling the Complete Roulette Recordings. It was somewhat over $200. You just don't ever see it that cheap. I snapped it up without hesitation.

That live Basie Roulette set is one of my favs.  I have listened to it a lot.  You might also like the Live at the Crescendo set, same time period, also great.

Got that too a few years ago.
