clifford_thornton Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 Hoping board members impacted by the fires are all right. Have friends who have evacuated and one, as far as I know, who lost it all (but he and family are safe). Absolutely terrible situation. LA lifer buddy says he's never seen anything like this, ever. Dan Gould Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 yes it's all terrible to watch. FWIW I saw on FB that formerly active member Shawn has marked himself safe. You may recall he moved out to LA from Austin ... a decade ago? Quote
clifford_thornton Posted January 9 Author Report Posted January 9 I do recall that, yeah. I'm not on FB but glad he's safe! Quote
mjazzg Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 Absolutely terrifying. Here's wishing anyone in the area safety Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 Someone over on the Hoffman forums was saying that he had to evacuate and he was worried that he may lose everything. I cannot imagine what those people are going through right now. Quote
jazzbo Posted January 9 Report Posted January 9 (edited) I used to say I was glad I lived now in Ohio where there were no wild fires or tornados. Then two years ago I was awakened by a tornado going through my neighborhood. We got lucky, no damage. Another neighbor we are close to (in both senses of the word) got lucky because a tree fell inches from hitting her garage. Other neighbors suffered damage. Edited January 9 by jazzbo Quote

I always thought Ohio was pretty much up the Tornado Alley but those things are (fortunately) a rare thing over there then as I learn from jazzbo now. All my best wishes for everybody there in the LA area. It looks horrible. Quote
Dmitry Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago A formerly prolific poster here, Cali, lived in Altadena. I've been trying to get a hold of him, without success. He had a lovely mid-century home, which I hope is still there. Quote
gvopedz Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago The Palisades and Eaton fires wiped out two neighborhoods with unique significance in L.A.’s music industry. https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/music/story/2025-01-15/fires-la-music-jake-viator-bob-clearmountain-poolside-musicares Quote
