gvopedz Posted Tuesday at 09:33 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:33 PM I believe several people on this forum have lived in Austin, TX. They might remember Waterloo Records - here is some recent news: https://www.austinchronicle.com/music/2025-01-03/waterloo-records-owner-john-kunz-saves-his-42-year-old-baby-by-selling-it/ Quote
clifford_thornton Posted Tuesday at 09:37 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 09:37 PM sure do. Interesting news. Quote
jazzbo Posted Tuesday at 10:04 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 10:04 PM I remember that '80 flood. . . hadn't been there long. After Tower closed, Waterloo became my recording shop. I miss three people and an awful lot of places in that town. Quote
colinmce Posted Tuesday at 10:22 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 10:22 PM It's an honorable operation, and this sounds like a good plan. But their holdings are about 95% new stock and I rarely leave there with more than a couple neat CDs from the dollar bin. Quote
Aggie87 Posted Wednesday at 01:56 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:56 AM I've been visiting Waterloo almost as long as I can remember being in and around Austin starting in the early 80's. I don't remember visiting the first location at all, but spent plenty of time at the second (and Tower and Technophilia, and later Stashus Mule in the 90's, if anyone remembers that hole in the wall). Sort of bittersweet to see it relocating, but at least it's still operating, and seems to be in good shape moving forward. Quote
Big Al Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Here's hoping it's successful in the new location. Honestly, that tiny corner location was always a pain to get in & out of so this will hopefully be an improvement (as well as a much-needed expansion). Quote
