I found a box listed on the spine as "Jazz Brochures" with BMI stamped all over the box, It Contains a letter and ten booklets for different artists that contain an essay and discography. Curious if anyone has seen this before? Is it collectable? The bookstore was asking $50 but I couldn't find any information online.

The photos are rather poor so it's hard to make out the details. From what I've been able to decipher on the letter (dated 1961), this seems to have been sent out to radio people ("broadcasters") and the box was supposed to hold additional such brochures that were announced to be sent to them from time to time. Are there really 10 booklets?  The different colors on your second photo seem to indicate (at least) 11 and the letter lists 12 artists.

As for "BMI" I suppose that's "BMI" as in "ASCAP and BMI"?

No definite idea about the rarity value. But I agree $50 seems a bit steep.
