Luciano Posted December 17, 2024 Report Posted December 17, 2024 Someone can judge this belief of mine concerning the sequence of tracks from the concert on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ss94-PVGRIg&t=1165s does not coincide and, in my opinion, it is as follows: 1) Oleo 12:38 2) Improvised Medley (Quoting The Bridge 12:57 / You Don't Know What Love Is 5:35 / Sly Moongoose 5:23) 3) Without A Song 12:50 4) I Don't Remember The Title 19:44 5) I Don't Known The Title 15:29 I hope I am not wrong, as I often do and I also think that tracks 4 & 5 are unreleased I hope in an answer Quote
JSngry Posted December 17, 2024 Report Posted December 17, 2024 You order is correct, their's is not. #4 is 52nd St Theme #5 is On Green Dolphin Street Thanks for posting! Quote
Luciano Posted December 18, 2024 Author Report Posted December 18, 2024 Thank you, in my folder these last two tracks (52nd street... & On green...) you indicated had disappeared. Again: listening carefully to the CD THE COMPLETE 1963 COPENHAGEN CONCERT by JAZZ LIPS JL767 I seem to have recognised, at the beginning of You Don't Know What Love Is the tune Sly Moongoose. Finally: Sly Moongoose that concluding the medley is completely unrecognisable to me (I also don't recognise You Don't Know What Love Is). I hope I have been clear and can therefore be understood, and above all still helped. I take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Luciano Quote
Luciano Posted Wednesday at 05:11 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 05:11 PM Happy New Year, JSngry, I am addressing you (I am not a good 'navigator' in this precious site.I regret this. Anyway: I think I'm more than sure that Don Cherry on Clifford Jordan's disc in The Worl only plays, and in a fantastic way, in Vienna. Yet all the discographies I have consulted and the various editions of the disc want him pue present in Doug's Prelude (even the mosac confirms his presence) I hope that you, or whoever will read this question of mine, can solve my dilemma (' since I bought it, back in 1969, that I occasionally do such research) Happy New Year also to all members Luciano Quote
Niko Posted Wednesday at 07:24 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 07:24 PM Indeed, I just listened to Doug's Prelude and there is no trumpet or cornet to be heard, neither Cherry nor Dorham. Noal Cohen's discography also doesn't list him with the soloists for the track (even though he includes him in the session personnel) https://attictoys.com/clifford-jordan/clifford-jordan-discography/ but, indeed, it sounds as if Cherry was not present on that track... Luciano Posted Wednesday at 07:47 PM Author Report Posted Wednesday at 07:47 PM Ciao Niko, if in the attached discography cherry is not present in the solos and we do not hear it, it means that Cherry does not play in Doug's Prelude Many thanks Quote
Luciano Posted Thursday at 05:22 AM Author Report Posted Thursday at 05:22 AM (edited) No, side on only means: Vienna & Doug'Prelude in my previos message I considered this image as proof that Don only plays in Vienna on the other hand, looking closely (not only my ears, now even my eyes deceive me, ah to be 82 years old!!) Cherry is considered to be the trumpet player in Side One which includes, erroneously, Doug's Prelude Edited Thursday at 10:43 AM by Luciano Quote
