Teasing the Korean
Well, it looks like our friends at Acoustic Sounds read my post immediately above. They are releasing these four tracks as a standalone (and expensive) LP.

I remember being thrilled to find a Kind Of Blue "prequel" session, as it were.

Daniel A
Didn't that '58 Sessions' CD have a take of Stella by Starlight that never has appeared anywhere else? It appears to have been a mistake; the originally released version was a composite take, but on the CD a single - partially different - take was used. Love For Sale was originally on a Columbia LP compilation called Black Giants. Just want to say that the handover from Miles to Coltrane on Stella By Starlight is one of the most magical moments in recorded jazz for me 🙂

And is the handover done via an edit? Now I wish I still had a copy of Miles '58 given that take 7 isn't even on the Miles/Coltrane box set. Well to answer my own questions: Peter Losin tells me: For "Stella," the originally-issued version consists of take 3 until the end of the tpt introduction, then the remainder from take 7. The edit point is 1:39, at which point an extra beat is introduced.
