clifford_thornton Posted October 2 Report Posted October 2 Wow, the track on preview here is slamming... Quote
clifford_thornton Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 My dad played "East to Wes" a lot in our house when I was young. I sent him the link and he told me he saw her perform in Topeka. Quote

clifford_thornton Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 I have no idea; it was at the Topeka Performing Arts Center I believe, a one-nighter. Pretty easy to score almost anywhere if you know a person... Quote
Ken Dryden Posted October 3 Report Posted October 3 East to Wes was my introduction to Emily Remler and I was greatly impressed with it when it was released. I've had copies of some of the Four Queens tracks, plus another set she did with Larry Coryell there, which hasn't been issued. Heroin took her far too young at 31. Quote

Eric Posted October 4 Report Posted October 4 Hard to believe this music is 40 years old. Â My first exposure was Transitions, on Concord, also from 1984. Â Always dug the album jacket. Â The guitar/trumpet quartet! Quote

Roger Farbey Posted Tuesday at 05:06 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:06 PM This is a very good album indeed and the medley So What/Impressions is masterly. She was an amazing guitarist and criminally underrated. Quote

Ken Dryden Posted Wednesday at 01:07 AM Report Posted Wednesday at 01:07 AM The Four Queens Jazz Night From Las Vegas collection at UNLV should also include a broadcast that she did with Larry Coryell. There is also a Jazz at the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild broadcast by Emily Remler, where she plays solo, with a trio and in a duo. I have both of these shows and I imagine that additional material was recorded that was not aired in both instances. Â Â Quote
bertrand Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago Apparently some of the song titles on this CD are incorrect. I have not bought it yet. Quote

bertrand Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago (edited) Facebook posts from a Remler expert. Cisco is apparently a Willis Jackson tune called Gator Whale and not the tune recorded by Pat Martino and later by Emily and Larry Coryell (as Gerry's Blues) Samba de Orfeo is actually Meditation So What is actually Moanin' Again, I have yet to hear the CD but the poster seems reliable.
