Rooster_Ties
Damn! I’m trying to remember ever seeing any(?) other Ornette footage that’s even half that compelling — in terms of line-up, footage and sound quality, compelling era, etc. Or what am I forgetting? Is there any footage of Ornette and Don Cherry for instance? (I’m not recalling. )
bertrand
This is the kind of thing I would have bought on DVD in a nanosecond but those days are over. What other footage is there from the Berlin Jazz Festival? Booker Ervin? Miles? Don Cherry?

That's the exact same thing I was thinking once I found this & watched. The up close shots ie Haden's bass playing, are just wonderful. Thanks to William M, another Australian board frequenter for hipping me to this footage
bertrand
Was the Berlin Jazz Festival in the habit of filming or was this a one-off, I wonder.

They filmed quite a few over the years. A lot of it is just beginning to surface.
bertrand
Great to hear but why the 60 year wait? What else has surfaced?
Joe
Ed Blackwell has long been one of my favorite drummers. Seeing him play has taken that esteem - and love - to a whole new level.

cliffpeterson
Search for "Berlin Jazztage" on YT. Recently uploaded there is a Yosuke Yamashita Trio with Manfred Schoof Berlin 1974 color video and a Muhal Richard Abrams Sextet Berlin 1973 color video.
