felser Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 Researching the Palm recordings further, I realize the two I'm most interested in, 'Us' and 'Mother Africa', have never made it to CD or download. 'Funky Funky Rib Crib' is around on CD, and the samples sound interesting enough. Not sure what to make of 'Exactment', where he seems to go it alone with some percussion in the background. Any thoughts on some of his later recordings, especially 'Worlds', which is also readily available on CD? Quote

felser Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 Getting expensive with shipping to USA running another 20 euros for the bundle. I'll probably wait and see if other sellers such as DG carry these. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted August 14 Report Posted August 14 Later Lancaster is good. Those CIMP CDs are swell, and My Pure Joy -- which, thanks to Felser's help, I did the liners for on the LP reissue -- is a fascinating mixed bag. FWIW I've always liked Exactement quite a bit. It is pretty spare but very personal. Ditto Personal Testimony, which was issued on CD with extra tracks. I've never had the Bellows LP but would be interested to sit down with it, even if it's a bit uneven. Quote

barnaba.siegel Posted August 25 Report Posted August 25 A no-brainer for me. I'm so happy Souffle is releasing it all-at-once. I only wonder if the complete collection would be also available via Bandcamp and will give access to streaming... that would be sweet. Quote
Pim Posted August 26 Report Posted August 26 There’s a good amount of samples avaible trough soundohm.com I am convinced and will go for the whole boxed set Quote

Pim Posted October 15 Report Posted October 15 Okay the box arrived and first impressions are…. very good! They did one hell of a job here. Nice solid material, well printed, nice Obis, beautiful booklet, more beautiful session photography with each individual LP. This boxed set deserves an A+ for esthetics, love and care. Tend to listen to all of the music and will report after I heard them all but this looks very promising. And so nice to now have all these very hard to get sessions all at once! Quote
romualdo Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 impressive but will cost me close to Aus$340 (includes 70 euros shipping to Australia) - will go for the CDs Quote
barnaba.siegel Posted October 16 Report Posted October 16 Looks really nice! I'm waiting for my CD set to be delivered. Quote
felser Posted October 19 Report Posted October 19 Anyone have a good USA source for acquiring the CD box set? I only see the LP box set available on Amazon and DustyGroove. Quote
T.D. Posted October 19 Report Posted October 19 (edited) As Cliff P. mentioned upthread, Forced Exposure and Dusty Groove have the component CDs (singles and one twofer), but no box. I checked DMG, but they only seem to have one of the CDs (maybe prior release?). Nothing at Squidco, as Colin stated upthread. I only see the LP box set on discogs at this time. So I have no idea! Those are all my suspects. 😢 Edited October 19 by T.D. Quote
mjazzg Posted October 19 Report Posted October 19 I don't think there is a CD box of this, just four CDs issued separately. They are all appearing on European sellers sites individually at least. Think link up thread from the label was for a special price bundle of the four individual CDs not a box Quote

felser Posted October 20 Report Posted October 20 Thanks, I'll watch for the bundle if it's at a meaningful savings, though 'Us' and 'Mother Africa' on their own may be enough for me. Quote
cliffpeterson Posted October 21 Report Posted October 21 I preordered all 4 cds from Dusty Groove. DG indicates that Funny Funky Rib Crib is to be issued about October 25th while the others, which were to be issued about 10-18, have been indefinitely delayed. OTOH, Forced Exposure indicates that all the cds and the LP Box are to be issued on November first. Quote
Pim Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 I believe they are all out there yet. Maybe DG is having difficulties obtaining a copy or something like that? Quote
barnaba.siegel Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 Ok, so I just got all 4 CD's and I'm hugely disappointed by the editorial side. These are the cheapest digipacks possible, on the inside there is only teeny-tiny list of tracks (what a waste of space), and on the backside we've got a very messy scan of back of original LP. By messy I mean it's badly scanned, hard to read and crooked. And yeah, there is no booklet at all, no photos, really lowest effort :(. A serious deterioration compared to previous CD editions, like this: https://www.discogs.com/release/14291219-Perception-Live-At-Le-Stadium Quote
clifford_thornton Posted October 22 Report Posted October 22 my guess is that they really do not want to manufacture CDs as not enough of their customers buy them. It's definitely a minimal effort job, whereas the LPs obviously were done with great care (and expense). Quote
