George Kelly, the Countsmen, at least four Percy France shows, Paul Quinnichette, Hal Singer, Howard McGhee with Sonny Redd, three complete "WKCR Benefit" broadcasts, really too many to even fathom. And this is just a first tranche. This needs to be shouted from the rooftops so spread the word if you can! (The above search should bring up new uploads as it is keyed to "reel to reel" source.) Yeah, that's why I don't want to get in too deep. I'm already too much of a completist when it just doesn't make much sense*. But I'm intrigued enough to check it out (a bit). * BBC Radio 3 has switched its jazz format over to Round Midnight, which is a daily jazz show (previous shows were weekly), so trying to keep up with that is too much, and I am trying to not get bogged down with regrets... 😁 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/m001xmqv Edited July 22 by ejp626

Dan Gould
Do many people care about this music? I really thought that the first tranche of recordings would elicit a response that was a little more ... robust, at least in terms of numbers. Do you like Paul Quinichette? According to Discogs he recorded only twice between 1960 and his death in 1984. Phil Schaap helped keep him working and here are 14 recordings never before heard of the Vice Pres. (And the Jazz Masters Trio is Sammy Price, Jo Jones and Quinichette - can't wait to hear those.) https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu/catalog?search_type=advance&transliteration_status=false&f[collection_id_is][]=2137&f[description_source_search_facet_sms][]=Reel-to-reel&keywords[]=paul+quinichette&title_text[]=&resource_description[]=&indexes[]=&transcript[]=&supplemental_file[]=&collection_title[]=&op[]=&type_of_search[]=wildcard&type_of_field_selector[]=wildcard&sort=title_ss+asc&search_field=advanced&commit=Search I guess mileage really does vary. A little wonky sound on this one but certainly listenable. Thanks for the reminder about the Big John Patton appearance, I haven't gone back to that one yet. And I repeat my offer to stream and edit any concert from the archive and provide a best-possible audio file to members. Just PM me.

Dan Gould
I was really hoping this one would be an "unexpected Percy France" appearance, Wild Bill Davis, and within a month of the last known Percy France broadcast in the year that he was diagnosed with cancer. Turns out its Doug Lawrence and it's great: https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu/collections/2137/collection_resources/134573
mhatta
It was great to hear "new" Barry Harris live recording, still going strong since it was 1991. Thanks for mentioning! I was also surprised to hear Big Nick Nicholas playing Epistrophy. Wow! https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu/collections/2137/collection_resources/131147 Joe Albany (with Al Gafa) is also a treat. https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu/collections/2137/collection_resources/131311 Edited August 28 by mhatta

Dan Gould
Johnny Griffin for an hour at Birdland, with @Michael Weiss, Dennis Irwin, Kenny Washington https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu/collections/2137/collection_resources/135156?u=t&keywords[]=johnny&keywords[]=griffin The recording is in one channel only with fairly low levels ... so I reiterate my offer for sending out my edit of the recording to whoever DMs me. I think my edit came out exceptionally well and your satisfaction is guaranteed or its free. That's because its already free.

Dan Gould
@adh1907 Direct from the research librarian: Early this morning I used a VPN to assume IP addresses in the UK, Germany, South Africa, and Russia, respectively. I was available to get Aviary access and play files in all locations using Firefox. I’m not sure if your colleague’s issues are unique to them or are connected to the browser they are using … or due to some other issue. According to the company, Aviary is configured to function in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. There is also the possibility that a file was selected that our rights to stream freely are a little murkier (like official recording sessions or the like). Does your colleague any specific records I could investigate? Let me know Anthony if there's anything else I can provide to the librarian.
