Teasing the Korean Posted July 20, 2024 Report Posted July 20, 2024 I have seen Volume One frequently, but never Volume 2. I assume that early albums like Portraits or Encores served as de facto subsequent volumes? Quote
JSngry Posted July 20, 2024 Report Posted July 20, 2024 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stan_Kenton_Presents That's the "real" Vol. 2. Quote

JSngry Posted July 20, 2024 Report Posted July 20, 2024 Yeah, that's a full frontal Innovations record. There's also some live bootlegs out there that are of interest, some more than others. Quote

I tend to enjoy this stuff in small doses, rather than a full album or CD. Quote
JSngry Posted July 21, 2024 Report Posted July 21, 2024 There's one concert where "Trajectories" is on fire. Some of that material was genetically incapable of catching fire, but it's good to have it affirmed that some of it was, and that the band would let it. Quote

Bruyninckx only lists the studio recording of that title (Feb. 4, 1950) but no live performance. So it must be a comparatively recent release. Quote

I am not sure what JSngry had in mind, but in Live From Sweets Ballroom 1950 they seem to play Trajectories live. It is certainly a fiery, surprisingly swinging performance. Quote
