gmonahan
I'm coming to this discussion late (been on vacation). I think it's great news. The V-Discs have been reissued all over the place for years, and the Vanguard material deserves to be reissued in an organized way. There are at least two cds worth of Vanguard things by Jimmy Rushing alone. I assume those will be part of these new sets? Â

Do we have any idea of the order and timing of when these sets are going to come out? Six months, two years??
jazzbo
As far as I have been able to determine No. You could inquire with Mosaic yourself; so far no one has supplied any of that information. Edited July 21 by jazzbo
tranemonk
Another question... Are these Jubilee sessions precursors to the JATP sets as the Storyville release says? How similar? How different?

mjzee
For those wishing to sample a pretty good Jubilee program, check out #089 (1944-07-24):Â Jimmie Lunceford Orch, Joe Sullivan, Lena Horne, The Nat King Cole Trio, Butterfly McQueen, and hosted by Ernie "Bubbles" Whitman. https://archive.org/download/AfrsJubilee/1944-07-24-AFRS-Jubilee-089-Jimmie-Lunceford-Orch--Joe-Sullivan-Lena-Horne-The-Nat-King-Cole-Trio-Butterfly-McQueen.mp3 Â

JSngry
Fwiw, Bubbles was not always the MC. Later on it was Gene Norman, and also who ER this guy is: Etta Jones! Bud Wittem? Is that what his name is?

mjzee
Coincidentally, I just started listening to Resonance's Nat King Cole box. Â This box includes some tracks from Jubilee shows. Â No mention is made of any complications regarding their use, or of needing approval from the government. Â Indeed, the credits mention "Episode #29 of AFRS Jubilee is newly transferred by United States Library of Congress." Â Maybe the government simply doesn't care anymore. Â The box was produced with permission of the Cole estate.
