JSngry Posted July 20 Report Posted July 20 I think it's safe to say that Bobby always looked sharp. Quote
ghost of miles Posted July 23 Report Posted July 23 Man, I’d forgotten what a strong record Happenings is. Relishing this set, which is inspiring me to revisit some other mid-1960s Blue Note records that I haven’t spun in many years. That particular era of the label sremains a sweet spot in my love of jazz. Quote

For whatever reason I remembered Happenings to be a little slight, and Oblique to be the stronger of the two. I found that I had it completely flipped. There's some very deep & outre stuff on there! jazzbo Posted July 23 Report Posted July 23 I've always preferred Oblique (Stinson pushes it over the edge for me) but I love Happenings as well. Quote
hopkins Posted July 30 Report Posted July 30 The sound quality of this Hutcherson set is really good. I don't have any of the LPs to compare to, but compared to some of the previous CDs, the sound is much more pleasant. Quote
BFrank Posted July 31 Report Posted July 31 A nice collection all the way around. An fitting tribute to both Bobby and Cuscuna. Quote
