GA Russell Posted May 1, 2024 Report Posted May 1, 2024 Duane Eddy, 'the first rock 'n' roll guitar god,' dead at 86 (msn.com) Quote
Big Beat Steve Posted May 2, 2024 Report Posted May 2, 2024 The first record I ever bought (at about 3 months short of my 15th birthday) was an RCA "Best of" compilation by Duane Eddy. It wasn't too long before I sort of tired of his style and found more interesting R'n'R guitar players elsewhere but later on I did pick up comprehensive vinyl reissues of his Jamie recordings. For completeness sake and to occasionally revive old memories. R.I.P. Quote
felser Posted May 2, 2024 Report Posted May 2, 2024 RIP. I liked his twang, though the material was usually lacking. Quote
Balladeer Posted May 3, 2024 Report Posted May 3, 2024 The twang is the thang - Duane Eddy was a great innovator of the probably most magical instrument and an outstanding stylist of Rock´n´Roll. Today global hipsters like Hermanos Gutierrez and LAttirail incorporate Eddy´style in their chilling yet rootsy contemporary blend. Twang on in heaven, Duane! Quote
