Terrace Martin on twitter, according to an earlier post, Keys was his uncle, they were also supposed to appear at the Newport Jazz Festival together this year...

I saw Calvin Keys in an intimate club setting in San Francisco this last October. An unforgettable experience to see one of the true masters of the music. Only a small handful of people in the club. His playing at 80yrs old was perfection. I am so saddened to hear of his passing.

It's very sad.

He was scheduled to perform on Sunday at a great oceanside venue down the coast (from SF), and I was thinking of going.

This is sad news. My only exposure to him was the RSD reissue of his that was put out a couple of years ago. I will give it a spin later today - RIP and particularly sad considering he was still musically very active.
