Ken Dryden Posted April 11, 2024 Report Posted April 11, 2024 I came across this blooper in an NPR podcast transcription about Art Tatum: He also unfluenced Benny Carter, Johnny Hodges, John Coltrane... all of these musicians that said they came out of Tatum.Β Β Quote
T.D. Posted April 11, 2024 Report Posted April 11, 2024 I believe in proofreading, but it seems to have become rare. These days, I would not expect a podcast transcription to be carefully proofread. Quote
medjuck Posted April 11, 2024 Report Posted April 11, 2024 I would suspect that transcribing podcasts isΒ not be done by humans.Β Quote
JSngry Posted April 11, 2024 Report Posted April 11, 2024 You should watch Closed Captioning on TV... 4 hours ago, Ken Dryden said: He also unfluenced Benny Carter, Johnny Hodges, John Coltrane... all of these musicians that said they came out of Tatum. "unfluenced" = giving birth to, thus them coming out of him. What nobody talks about is all the afterbirths. But there they were!!! Quote
Ken Dryden Posted April 11, 2024 Author Report Posted April 11, 2024 (edited) My favorite blooper was in Ben Sidranβs book of interviews. Denny Zeitlln was misspelled Zeitland throughout the chapter. Obviously Sidran didnβt review the galleys too carefully and Iβm sure that he didnβt do the transcribing. Edited April 12, 2024 by Ken Dryden Quote
Ken Dryden Posted April 12, 2024 Author Report Posted April 12, 2024 Damned tiny fonts...but a bulletin board isn't the same as printing a hardback book with a glaring error.Β This happens on my phone all the time. Quote
