ghost of miles
Ohtani now 17-20 in his last 20 AB with RISP (setting an MLB record) and 0-21 with nobody on base. Ohtani’s big blast punctuates historic run of clutch hitting

ghost of miles
Riveting last couple of games in Cleveland for the ALCS. Weird how just about every game in the NLCS has been a blowout.
Patrick
Congrats to Yankees and Yankee fans. Given the massive payroll and talent difference, kind of pre-ordained. At least some fun, and the scrappy rebel alliance took down the Evil Empire once in glorious fashion. Overall NY took care of CLE 2 main strengths: bullpen and Jose Ramirez. CLE most definitely did NOT handle Soto/Stanton/Judge. But then Soto should still be a Nat and Lindor should still be playing next to Jose Jose. Oh well. NBA gets underway shortly. Brad
I’m hopeful but not overly optimistic that the Mets can take it to a game 7. Teams that are down 3-1 and need to win the last two on the road to win the series seldom do. It’s only happened seven or eight times in baseball since the 1950s. It’s been a fun ride nevertheless. Thanks so much, Patrick. The final series line does not reflect how close and hard-fought it was—much, much respect to Cleveland. Those were some great and memorable ALCS battles, with game 3 in particular an instant classic. 2 hours ago, Brad said: I’m hopeful but not overly optimistic that the Mets can take it to a game 7. One thing the Mets have going for them: the decimated L.A. rotation, and Yamamoto and Flaherty unavailable to start today or tomorrow. It’s going to be an epic World Series match-up, whoever ends up emerging from the NLCS. I’ll definitely be listening to tonight’s game. In every facet of the series LA was better.

RIP. https://nypost.com/2024/10/22/sports/fernando-valenzuela-dodgers-legend-dead-at-63/ Sad news—he was such a baseball sensation in 1981. Eerie timing on the eve of the first Dodgers-Yankees World Series since that very year.

mjazzg
They'd certainly be arrested and get lifetime bans for an equivalent action in a UK sports stadium, football, cricket or whichever sport. How much would they have paid for their tickets that close to the field?
