Congrats to Yankees and Yankee fans. Given the massive payroll and talent difference, kind of pre-ordained. At least some fun, and the scrappy rebel alliance took down the Evil Empire once in glorious fashion. Overall NY took care of CLE 2 main strengths: bullpen and Jose Ramirez. CLE most definitely did NOT handle Soto/Stanton/Judge.

But then Soto should still be a Nat and Lindor should still be playing next to Jose Jose. Oh well. NBA gets underway shortly.

I’m hopeful but not overly optimistic that the Mets can take it to a game 7.  Teams that are down 3-1 and need to win the last two on the road to win the series seldom do. It’s only happened seven or eight times in baseball since the 1950s. It’s been a fun ride nevertheless.

Thanks so much, Patrick. The final series line does not reflect how close and hard-fought it was—much, much respect to Cleveland. Those were some great and memorable ALCS battles, with game 3 in particular an instant classic.

One thing the Mets have going for them: the decimated L.A. rotation, and Yamamoto and Flaherty unavailable to start today or tomorrow. It’s going to be an epic World Series match-up, whoever ends up emerging from the NLCS. I’ll definitely be listening to tonight’s game.

Well, it didn’t work out. In every facet of the series LA was better.

They'd certainly be arrested and get lifetime bans for an equivalent action in a UK sports stadium, football, cricket or whichever sport.

How much would they have paid for their tickets that close to the field?

Not as much as they would have behind home plate, but for WS, probably $100 each, as a guess.

Yes, congratulations to L.A., clearly the better team. I had voted for the Dodgers-in-six option on Pinstripe Alley’s pre-series poll, but even that proved to be overly optimistic. The Dodgers have set themselves up nicely for a potential stretch of dominance, what with Glasnow and Ohtani both in the rotation next year and all of their key players still in their prime.
Glad that I got to hear John Sterling making his last Yankee calls in the postseason, that I got to follow Judge having one of the most spectacular offensive seasons I’ve ever seen, that Soto fit in so well in the Bronx (it’ll take a truckload of money and he won’t be handing out any hometown discounts, but I think he ultimately stays with New York), and glad to have enjoyed another season of baseball. In this most volatile of election years, it was a more welcome diversion than ever. In the meantime, fire up the hot stove!
