Rabshakeh Posted November 7 Report Posted November 7 How are we doing with donations this year? Do we need a round up? Quote
Rabshakeh Posted Friday at 09:53 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:53 PM Just following up on this. Shouldn't the collection box be going around?. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted Monday at 07:29 PM Author Report Posted Monday at 07:29 PM We are set for this year but it's not too early to start thinking about next year! I'll look into the subscription model. The MusicPlayer forums just started doing that because they are having trouble keeping the doors open as well. They are doing $5 a month or $50 per year in order to have posting privileges. Quote
mikeweil Posted Monday at 09:54 PM Report Posted Monday at 09:54 PM How many subscribers would we need? Quote
JSngry Posted Monday at 10:42 PM Report Posted Monday at 10:42 PM Retired, fixed income, $50.00/yr sounds good to me. Quote

Kevin Bresnahan Posted Monday at 10:51 PM Report Posted Monday at 10:51 PM 55 minutes ago, mikeweil said: How many subscribers would we need? This place costs $1,900.00/year (actually $1,855.00 but I'm rounding up). $1,900/50=38. So we'd need at least 38 subscribers to keep the place open. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted Monday at 11:00 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:00 PM yeah, I'm in for 2025. Quote
GA Russell Posted Monday at 11:16 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:16 PM Great! I will need an address to mail a check. Quote
mikeweil Posted Monday at 11:18 PM Report Posted Monday at 11:18 PM I'm in, too. I would cancel a magazine subscription that I thought about ending due to lack of time for reading, and pay for the forum instead. This is one of the few places on the web that I regularly go to. Okay, let's count: 3 Quote
medjuck Posted Tuesday at 05:37 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 05:37 AM I'm in but I'm computer illiterate. How/where do I subscribe? Quote
soulpope Posted Tuesday at 06:15 AM Report Posted Tuesday at 06:15 AM I'm in too .... but would this still leave the forum for non-subscribers open (which I still would favour to keep traffic/input undiminished) ? Quote
Niko Posted Tuesday at 01:38 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 01:38 PM happy to subscribe as well but I would strongly advise against making this anything more than a voluntary option... registering here is already quite an achievement these days it seems - so we shouldn't add a second hurdle of having to pay 50$ after making it through the registration before one can start posting... at the very least, I would give people the first 100 posts for free (wonder who the last newbie was to make it past 100 posts... I bet it was some time ago) Quote

As I understand it everybody can view the forum, but to post you have to subscribe in the model Jim mentioned. So far a dozen members .... Quote
