Joe G Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 I'm sure you will be enjoying the day with your family. But if you want to come down to Docker's, we'll help you celebrate! Quote

Lazaro Vega Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Hey everyone, thanks for the hands! I'll be 44 on April 30th, and fundraising on the radio. That same night Jason Moran's Trio will be at the Wealthy Theater in Grand Rapids as part of the Gilmore Keyboard Festival. If you can make it, please let me know how it went, or write a notice for the board. That would be a great present. Thanks again for the good vibes. Lazaro Quote

Lazaro Vega Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 If any of you guys are within earshot, Wednesday night we'll be doing a "live" broadcast of the Tony Malaby, Angelica Sanchez, Tom Rainey trio at 10 p.m. They just played the Chicago Cultural Center, then came a Trib review, then they packed the Velvet Lounge, then came to play for us before continuining on tour. We had John Erskine record it for us, from the Hope College Sound Lab, and it is the shazjaminist. Nessa was there, and Tim Froncek helped with the drums so he hung out. Wait till you hear this: they were wailing. Wednesday night, 10 p.m., 90.3 Fm or in Grand rapids 88.9 Fm. Quote
catesta Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 My apologies for missing your birthday. I hope it was a good one! B) Quote
blue lake Posted April 7, 2004 Report Posted April 7, 2004 That's all right because you haven't, it's the 30th -- day after Duke's b-day, and in the month with Gene Ammons, Mingus, Billie Holiday (and maybe Hitler, too; oh well). Quote
blue lake Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Here's a pic of Lesley and I waiting to hear Ira Sullivan in Saugatuck. Just out of frame is Terry Martin. Those are transistor radios on my shirt, which is too St. Augustine, even for Saugatuck. http://www.lakeshorejazzconnection.org/photo_gallery.htm Quote
