David Ayers Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Lovely full sound in these recordings from first listen. IIRC Gdogus is a bit of a fan of this set Just wondering which of the complete string quartet boxes to go for; think it may have to be the Fitwilliam/London recordings. What do you all think? Don't know if you jumped yet but the Fitzwilliam set is going for a good price in the Universal sale - either at MDT or Europadisc. Quote
jazzbo Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Those Blue Notes that showed up on yourmusic.com today except the Rubalcaba (will get that later) and the Santana III Deluxe from the same source. Quote

MG I guess it's more some kind of leftover sale - they get new stuff in now and then, it seems (when I did my second order - the above one is the third - I bought all I wanted, so most of the above wasn't in stock back then...). But I wouldn't wait too long, if there are things you really want... Quote

It's taking me three days to play through all my recent albums at present. Ah well. MG of course, whats sold out is sold out, but usually they change their programme every two months (= next time from August to September) maybe then there will be new 2,99 ZYX CDs but from what I see at the local shop I don't really believe it, the market seems to be somewhat "filled" (like Booker Ervin "The Song Book" for 2,99 lying around for more than a week without being bought)... I don't know if I remember the number right but I think they had bought about 300000 CDs from ZYX I suppose they can't continue until they sold them all Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Ordered three days before Mosaic put their prices up. It could have SWUM the Atlantic quicker! Anyway, it's here. MG Quote

I was early at the shop today they were just preparing the new items (not available online I suppose) and I could just see Oliver Nelson "Afro-American Sketches" and that three people were busy with the CDs so I hope hope hope that when I go there again (very soon) that there will be several very nice CDs waiting for me... (concordconcordconcord ) I bought Barry Harris "Newer than new" Don Wilkerson "The Texas Twister" Don Sleet "All members" for 2,99 each but left (for the usual reasons not more than two CDs at a time) there, among others, Sonny Stitt / Gene Ammons "God Bless...", Rod Levitt, Sonny Stitt "Goin down slow", Joe Albany with Warne Marsh, the third Chet Baker with George Coleman, Oliver Nelson "Straight Ahead" and "Afro-American Sketches" and many more which came in today Quote
Matthew Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Porcupine Tree: Lightbulb Sun. And it was a bear to find, and I still had to pay $34.00 for it. Quote

Matthew Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Well, whaddaya think, Matthew? I think it's well worth that price (but as you know I love that album!). What PT are you still missing? I ordered Lightbulb Sun off of Amazon.com today since while I was in the Bay Area for my vacation I couldn't find it anywhere, so it'll be a couple of days before I can listen to it. With this order, and getting The Sky Moves Sideways, Warszawa, Voyage 34, Metanoia, and pre-ordering Stupid Dream from Deep Discount CD, I'm set (I think) for all the PT cds. Quote
