Pete B
I scored the Dexter Prestige box today on Amazon for $77. I only have a little bit of the material, and that on vinyl, so I'm really looking forward to hearing it.

Kalo
Gianluigi Trovesi,Coscia Gianni: Round About Weill (ECM) Excellent! ← I like Trovesi. Is that record a tribute to Monk and Weill as its title suggests? Today I bought these CDs at another local used place I hadn't hit in a while: David Axelrod -- The Axelrod Chronicles (Fantasy) Buck Clayton with Buddy Tate -- Buck and Buddy Blow the Blues (Prestige Swingville/OJC) Zez Confrey Piano Rolls and Scores (Warner Classics) The Red Mitchell-Harold Land Quintet -- Hear Ye! (Atlantic) Marty Paitch -- A Jazz Band Ball (Mode/V.S.O.P.) All for about $40.

cannonball-addict
Okay, so I did get something on sale, but not really in the range I was thinking. But I was so excited to see it, I couldn't pass up. Sanhedrin - Masada (1994-97 - The Unreleased Studio Recordings) I unequivocally love Masada, and have most of the studio records, so as far as I'm concerned (and based on the evidence of the live discs), 2 discs worth of alternate takes/extras is money well spent. Can't wait to dig in. ← I just got it for the radio station I work at with underwriting money from the local Tzadik outlet and it was definately a worthwhile purchase for all the perks like a history of the group not only from Zorn's perspective (why he created Masada, what the process was like writing tunes for the group, their live performances, etc.) but also from each fellow members' perspective. Dave Douglas' recollections are worth the $32 we spent on this release alone. Matt

BFrank
Chicago Transit Authority (first album) ← I caught their San Francisco debut (opening for Santana and the last ever performance by Janis Joplin with Big Brother & the Holding Company) at Fillmore West Aug. '68 ← Nice going David. That must have been SOME show! In the liners of this Rhino re-issue there's a small reproduction of a Fillmore West poster that has CTA opening for the Moody Blues. It doesn't say what year, but I would guess 1969.
