We're on fixed incomes now, so my paranoia is getting me to where I'm not indulging in non-essential record purchases unless some REALLY big bargains show up. And this place has them!

HutchFan, thanks for shining the light on this place. Never heard of the before, but you can't unsee it, can you;

Sure thing.  Happy to spread the good deals 'round.

And no you can't unsee it!  ;)

The nice thing about Philadelphia music is that they undergrade their CDs. Many listed as NM are still sealed, while the orders I have received graded VG+ have been NM.

It is surprising how many long out of print jazz CDs can be purchased so cheaply. I don't think that I missed anything in the low priced jazz CDs under $6 on my want list and I bought a few more pricey items as well. My latest order is scheduled to arrive today.

Just bought Fanfare by the Art Ensemble and live at Willisau by the Brotherhood of Breath.

@mjazzg - Further East London news. I'm afraid OTO has now started to sell second hand jazz vinyl at a fairly reasonably price, apparently via a connection in Japan. Some seriously good stuff.

Both TERRIFIC.  :tup

I love hearing Muhal with the AEC on Fanfare.

I know, they've been pushing it on Instagram, I've stayed away...so far.

I agree, the selection has been top notch

11 CDs with shipping for $24.85. Not too shabby.

A few I've owned in the past but lost track of them so I figured I'd add them back in at these prices...

Flying Colors - Joe Lovano & Gonzalo Rubalcaba $0.79

Dear Sir: Tribute To Wayne Shorter - Dale Fielder Quartet $1.27

Telepathy - Cindy Blackman $1.90

Deep Purple - Arnett Cobb $5.07

When Larry Met Harry - Larry Goldings | Harry Allen $1.69

Night Birds - Harry Allen/Totti Bergh/George Masso $2.53

With European Friends - Stan Getz $0.75

Jonas Plays Gullin – Bertil "Jonas" Jonasson $1.06

Are You Having Any Fun? - A Celebration Of The Music Of Sammy Fain - Harry Allen-Keith Ingham Quintet $2.11

Andalucia - Kevin Hays $1.06

Angel Eyes Ballads & Slow Jams - Jimmy Smith $1.06

Two of these discs were sealed. Can't get more mint than that. :)

I could swear that I owned Jimmy Smith's "Angel Eyes" but it's not in the racks. However, I don't remember it having a brown smoke tinted jewel case. Was that how it was released?

A bunch of my CDs were sealed too.  :tup  They often don't even bother mentioning it.

And, like @Ken Dryden said above, their grading is very trustworthy. What they call VG+ typically looks like NM to me. And this true of both their CDs and LPs.

Because their grading is so "conservative," I often buy VG graded LPs from them. (With other online retailers, I typically won't go below VG+.)  After a couple spins on the vacuum machine, their VG-graded LPs typically play very, very well. Maybe not PERFECTLY. But much better than what you usually get with a VG-rated platter.

David Sanborn - Time And The River

Swept up in a wave of nostalgia thanks to a post from @Rabshakeh, I thought I'd see what Sanborn's been up to more recently.

It was cheap...

Ha! Sorry / glad to help. Let us know what he's been up to when you've had a chance.

Definitely help rather than blame. Review in a few days

Playing for the Man at the Door (Smithsonian Folkways)image.jpeg.37e22f410ede4f0c96695421d6fa9cb1.jpeg

This is a very interesting collection.  I especially like the tracks that he recorded of Hop Wilson live in a juke joint.

How did Muse material end up with BMG? A Cuscuna thing?

Strange coincidence...I just purchased (rec'd Saturday) from felser a twofer of 2 of those 3 albums (Fast Last! and Rope-a-Dope) on a 32Jazz reissue (American Gumbo). Even more weirdly, the 2-album American Gumbo and 3-album Mirage compilations were both released in 1999. I don't get it.

Right. I have that one due to inexplicably losing my OG Muse LP of Fast Last and only being able to find the Muse LP with a reissue cover.

Dorn got some rights from Muse. But BMG?????
