Rabshakeh
Stan Levey – Grand Stan Blue Mitchell – Blue's Moods Both from Flashbacks on the Essex Road in London, which appears to have recently bought a large collection of bop stuff from. 50s-90s and is selling it off at pretty good prices. Worth checking out for any Londoners in here.

JSngry
That's one of those places where if you have a lot of time and you know your labels to know what's what, you can make some worthy additions for under $5.00/disc. ESPECIALLY if your collection is fairly settled and you're just looking to fill in some holes. OR if your collection has a lot of holes and you're ok with older CD versions, cheap. JSngry
Daedalus books used to be like. Some other place too, I forget the name. But I see a lot of the same type stuff. Fortunately, I most of it now. But most is not all...Like Roy Eldridge, The Nifty Cat with Budd Johnson, did not have a legit CD on it and BAM there it was tonight in the Under $5 filter. I was relieved that their comparable Modern Classical seemed pretty weak. Thank God!

It's a good way to sample artists around the edges at a minimal cost (such as Sal Mosca, Mike Melillo, Mike LeDonne, Scott Wendholdt,Sal Nistico on this latest order for me). The # of jazz CD's (especially interesting ones) jumps up and down on the site, I think when they end up buying a big collection (which they've done a few times in the years I've followed along). They were at 11,000+ jazz CD's a couple of months ago, now at 7700, and I remember them being around 3000 for a long time a few years ago. JSngry
We're on fixed incomes now, so my paranoia is getting me to where I'm not indulging in non-essential record purchases unless some REALLY big bargains show up. And this place has them! HutchFan, thanks for shining the light on this place. Ken Dryden
The nice thing about Philadelphia music is that they undergrade their CDs. Many listed as NM are still sealed, while the orders I have received graded VG+ have been NM. It is surprising how many long out of print jazz CDs can be purchased so cheaply. I don't think that I missed anything in the low priced jazz CDs under $6 on my want list and I bought a few more pricey items as well. My latest order is scheduled to arrive today. Rabshakeh
Just bought Fanfare by the Art Ensemble and live at Willisau by the Brotherhood of Breath. @mjazzg - Further East London news. I'm afraid OTO has now started to sell second hand jazz vinyl at a fairly reasonably price, apparently via a connection in Japan. Some seriously good stuff. They often don't even bother mentioning it. And, like @Ken Dryden said above, their grading is very trustworthy. What they call VG+ typically looks like NM to me. And this true of both their CDs and LPs. Because their grading is so "conservative," I often buy VG graded LPs from them. (With other online retailers, I typically won't go below VG+.) After a couple spins on the vacuum machine, their VG-graded LPs typically play very, very well. Maybe not PERFECTLY. But much better than what you usually get with a VG-rated platter.
