HutchFan Posted July 29, 2023 Report Posted July 29, 2023 @Pim - INCREDIBLE haul. So many amazing LPs. Quote
mjazzg Posted July 29, 2023 Report Posted July 29, 2023 @Pim that's practically a collection in itself, are there any LPs left in Japan?! I can't help but be intrigued by the Bob Cooper Quote
Pim Posted July 29, 2023 Report Posted July 29, 2023 (edited) @mjazzg I am pretty sure I’ve had the last ones thanks @HutchFan I almost never order anything in Europe anymore for the insane prices that were always on eBay and are now at Discogs as well. So I make a big order twice a year in Japan and save up money for those every month. I calculated and this order cost me 20 euros a piece including shipping etc. That’s very acceptable. For example: the Sonny Rollins (VG+/VG+) cost 3 dollars…. Most of the Tyners: 5 dollars… Now hoping it will arrive in one piece of course. Fingers crossed! I always feel truly happy when they actually are delivered at my door. Edited July 29, 2023 by Pim Quote

JSngry Posted August 5, 2023 Report Posted August 5, 2023 That's one of those places where if you have a lot of time and you know your labels to know what's what, you can make some worthy additions for under $5.00/disc. ESPECIALLY if your collection is fairly settled and you're just looking to fill in some holes. OR if your collection has a lot of holes and you're ok with older CD versions, cheap. Quote

JSngry Posted August 5, 2023 Report Posted August 5, 2023 Daedalus books used to be like. Some other place too, I forget the name. But I see a lot of the same type stuff. Fortunately, I most of it now. But most is not all...Like Roy Eldridge, The Nifty Cat with Budd Johnson, did not have a legit CD on it and BAM there it was tonight in the Under $5 filter. I was relieved that their comparable Modern Classical seemed pretty weak. Thank God! Quote

It's a good way to sample artists around the edges at a minimal cost (such as Sal Mosca, Mike Melillo, Mike LeDonne, Scott Wendholdt,Sal Nistico on this latest order for me). The # of jazz CD's (especially interesting ones) jumps up and down on the site, I think when they end up buying a big collection (which they've done a few times in the years I've followed along). They were at 11,000+ jazz CD's a couple of months ago, now at 7700, and I remember them being around 3000 for a long time a few years ago. Quote
