The Magnificent Goldberg Posted December 26, 2020 Report Posted December 26, 2020 Just bought a bunch of downloads from Amazon, as I didn't ask either wife, daughter or grandsons for any music for Christmas and didn't have much time yesterday. Yaya Bangoura - Wo koberato!!! - Amacif Got this on a K7 when it came out but only just found out it was on a CD, so I looked in Amazon and there it was. (I can't be arsed to rip stuff unless it's vital). And while I was there, got three by Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey that I've had on my waiting list for a few weeks: Around the world Austerity (meaning that Decca West Africa couldn't afford to hire photographers with steady hands) Mukulu muke MG Quote

Pim Posted January 16, 2021 Report Posted January 16, 2021 (edited) Got a very generous family in law and a less generous but very sweet own family. December the 25th was my birthday and that means money for me to spend in any way I want. Without the interference of my bossy wife.... who I love very much but has no musical taste. I think I have spend the money quite well. Quite a lot of trouble with the postal companies so most of them arrive pretty late. These week I received these, all on vinyl: Most of it is new and sealed. The two Nimbus' releases are on Outernational, that do a pretty great job releasing Tapscott's work. The Rivers is of course a Tone Poet and Tolliver is on Pure Pleasure, the British label that does a really great job remastering and releasing the Strata East legacy. Rabshakeh Posted January 16, 2021 Report Posted January 16, 2021 Definitely money well spent. Those two UGMAA ones are really good re-releases. I love the Oscar Peterson cover art. I don't know the Doug Hammond, but the line up looks enticing. What's it like? Happy birthday! Quote

I saw the line up, listened to some samples and just ordered blindly! Will let you know as soon as I have given it a spin. Quote
jcam_44 Posted January 21, 2021 Report Posted January 21, 2021 placed a large order from Cedric at https://japanarchives-mailorder.com. Sounds interesting I’ve played it quite a bit already via the Bandcamp app. A bit of a legendary band, this is from broadcasts I think and part of the Jon Hiseman archive. Without this LP there would be no recorded legacy that I know of. Sure to sell out pretty quick. Between us we have 1/250 of available stock ! Edited February 13, 2021 by sidewinder Quote
