Ordered a few discs today:

...

Schlippenbach Trio: First Recordings

...

The Schlippenbach Trio will play the Bimhuis on 4 December. I look forward to experiencing them live.

That First Recordings, from about 40 years ago, has a vibrancy that is really amazing.

Cecil Taylor/Tony Oxley: Ailanthus Altissima (Triple Point)

Finally decided to get this before it disappeared. It was expensive, but it's Cecil so it's worth whatever it cost.

The recordings I own of Cecil with just a drummer (Max Roach (Soul Note), and Oxley, Lovens, and Moholo all on FMP) are all favourites. I put them on often.

I am in need of more recent Cecil, however. After Nailed (1990) I only have Willisau from 2000 on Intakt.

Andrew Drury: Content Provider

Tyshawn Sorey: That/Not

Schlippenbach Trio: First Recordings

Satoko  Fujii Ma Do: Time Stands Still

Rodrigo Amado Motion Trio + Jeb Bishop: Live at the Jazz AO Central

That/Not is incredibly good, as is the Schlippenbach and Fuji.

Always A Pleasure from 1993 is one of  my favorite CT albums-- actually quite reminiscent of Unit Structures.  Almeda from 1996 is very good, and I like the music on Cadence-- a trio with Jackson Krall & Dominic Duval, a duo with Duval, and two quartet CDs adding Harri Sjostrom to the trio, recorded between 98-03.

The Complete Bill Evans on Verve, Italian Universal reissue of the 1997 ammo box. The packaging and booklet are basic but the 22 bit remastering is superb. I missed this box the first time round - didn't want to pay £300 or catch lockjaw opening the thing up so £27 with an Amazon voucher is pretty good. :)

Really glad to have this one at last !

I love those universal sets, i've picked up many of them. Bonus = actual jewel cases and no CD-Rs. :)

Xybert - the Bill Evans Verve doesn't have jewel cases, it is clam shell box with card covers on the CDs. No CD-Rs though !

Ah, didn't know that. All the ones i've purchased have been in jewel cases (off the top of my head: Bud Powell Verve, Charlie Parker Verve, Sonny Rollins Prestige, Duke Ellington Carnegie Hall, Art Tatum Solo Masterpieces). Thanks for the correction, i guess they opted for cardboard sleeves due to the number of discs in the Evans set.
