The Magnificent Goldberg
The Atlantic New Orleans jazz sessions - Mosaic Arrived at last today, after Royal Mail screwed up the paperwork and sat on it while I was in Paris. Wonderful set of recordings! I was most taken by the Punch Miller session. Lovely trumpet player! But it's all excellent. MG

The Magnificent Goldberg
Dusty Groove's package arrived today Lionel Hampton - Off into a black thing - Brunswick Mind you, I think Lionel's always been into a black thing. I've never heard of a white bandleader leading his band out into the ghetto streets around the ballroom Nice stuff. Only one of his albums for Brunswick is included in Lord's jazz discography - 'Please sunrise'. MG

It was al over the Goutte d'Or in Paris last month at 10 Euros (£8.33), but I held my fire and downloaded it today from Amazon for £5.90. Damn good album. Hope I have time to play it more next month MG
